Its entirely possible the US auto industry is being demolished so we will have to buy all our vehicles from China to satisfy the Bond Holders. We can't be so naive as to think the Bond Holders would be pleased for very long with this arrangement. Working the Canadian tar sands is a desperate, dirty job at best and they expect to pay plenty for the privilege. Shall we remind our US dealmakers the US installment credit system has evaporated? Americans subliminally fantasize the Chinese consumer wants to look like rugged Marlboro men ripping into war zones goggled in their cammie flaks and Hummers, but somehow I don't think the typical Chinese consumer is too enamored with us anymore. Aside from our loss in status on the world markets and the errand boys scofflawing side to side, doing the bob and weave in Rolex, we are no longer stepping up to the plate on our side of the deal either, which means Chinese exports gathering thick layers of dust in warehouses and freighters idled, bow to the wind. Its true we don't want the melamine, its also true imperialism comes at a high price. Its a good idea to keep an eye on the people who let your home slide into foreclosure when they have a moral compass opposite to yours.See the USA in your Chevrolet, America is asking you to call

I apologize if you are feeling a little neglected here lately. I've been busy in the Gallery. Its such a high, I think I am addicted. Heh, but addictions always have that other side, don't they? The "coming down" part. I'm just as addicted to blogging, so fear not, its only a matter of time. Like a day or two. Okay, that's what they always say and then its "just one more", I swear, this one last time and I'll quit. Well, we shall see about that. I'm pretty strong. And we're in a bad way in the real world, there is lots to talk about and lots of commiseration to be worked through. What will happen when the Imperialists have their own "come downs"? Uh, a passing fancy, you have to be human to experience the depths of coming down. Look at all the human beings around you coming down at this very moment! Gawd, its nasty. Writhing and moaning and puking on dirty mattresses in storefront rehabs... Ah, where's the community organizer?
Yes, yes, I care. I know you care too. Its painful to see it. And its everywhere now. There are however, still powerful strongholds of sheer denial, but these only show us how much worse it will get - all too soon. They cling and screech and build towers of lies upon crumbling, demolished towers of ash and thermite, they are the Rockettes in a Busby Berkeley Gold Diggers black and white. Scores of synchronized swimmers rising out of rose-petaled cesspools in a pre-LSD
Meanwhile we're fiddling while Rome burns over in the Gallery, I mean, what else is there to do with all this anguish but go on living and while you're living why not live it up?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder--
The little dirt lot on the side of the highway leading north out of town is now overflowing with used vehicles for sale--there used to be as many as 4-5 on the weekends--now 20 sit there all week long--signs of the times--
USA--going out of business, final clearance--buy a car, get a Chinese made toaster--the local Ford dealers cars all have cobwebs on them--mice need homes too
Probably going to buy a little 12 channel mix board and PA for the kids band--throw in a microphone or two and blast it to the heavens--for the sheer joy of it--we need music and art more now than ever and I know where to go for both--
Create your own oasis--and they will come--or not--
Have you noticed how eagerly folks jumped into the art-only pages here at Nina's Halfway House Of Misfits--
Very positive thing to have the outlet and inlet--
Thanks again,
Jj
Boom, boom, once again the group mind thing. The bad dreams I've been having (a la August 2001) get me up at 4am again, the local AM station is rebroadcasting Coast to Coast am, the program is "ash and thermite and its role in 9/11," right after that Les pops up with a new one, "Werewolves," and then I see Nina has popped up with a new one, "Bill Flow...," as has After Armageddon, "A New Way to Live." When everyone from George Noory to bloggers to your own nightmares tells you something really weird this way quickly comes, you'd better sit up and listen. Not that I think many will or can, sadly. What can be done has been done on this end, as the Bene Gesserit mother would say, & I suppose now it is watch and wait and try to awaken those who still might have retina and cornea intact. Having had a bad eye disease (keratoconus) that had to be corrected surgically with transplants, I know it is not just the back of the brain that matters. If you can't fix the light in your eye, what gets sent to the brain isn't going to make sense anyway. As an artist you probably grok what I'm saying.
Now at midnight all the agents
And the superhuman crew
Come out and round up everyone
That knows more than they do
Then they bring them to the factory
Where the heart-attack machine
Is strapped across their shoulders
And then the kerosene
Is brought down from the castles
By insurance men who go
Check to see that nobody is escaping
To Desolation Row
Jj, I have been seeing the Gallery in a most positive way, too, there are so many places to comment, all those images inspire ever-bigger thinking, this could go on an on and never be done. I thought it might be too static, that was silly, its crazy alive with a hundred secret places. You and Su and Stacy breathed life into it. Thank you. I don't think of it as mine at all, its all of ours. Like a treehouse we've made.
I started seeing those "peoples" car lots about 7 years ago when they were gathering cash to do "flips". My how fast things change. Now they're shoving whole contents of their garages to the driveways hoping something, anything will keep 'em going another week.

What I grok is major catastrophe that must have turned your life upside down. The you recovered and discovered everything was different.
Publius, I don't think I would attempt to explain in words how long the time I've been with Dylan or how great his influence, just to say whenever you put up his work, it is like going home again.
Always like an arrow to the point.
I stopped over at Ben's and he has a new guitar piece up for our viewing and listening pleasure--
Just a thought, and I'm pretty sure you link there already but maybe post something like that on your site too--anything creative and inspirational--

The vibes are pretty heavy today, so much beauty and so much ambient alarm. What do you all think will happen when nobody is able to get anywhere because they moved to the exurbs and can't go where they think they need to be? No petrol, no job to afford the last drops available? Inclement weather, no crops? The states are running on empty now ...
Seriously, who's got a clue? I don't believe there is anyone who thinks this is all just business as usual. They are having a lot of conflicting pressures trying to separate fact from fantasy. I am even seeing good friends and loved ones peel off from the ties that bind being not sure where to go, what to do, if something can be done or how to address the simplest things. Why are we different, are we different?
I don't have any fear--that may come but hopefully in a strengthening way--a resolve of sorts--Nothing will surprise me--Being able to see through the bullshit is a huge advantage--being able to lay low while watchful is another--
One thinks more clearly with a water source and food--easier to defend than to be out there trying to take--
One day of food in the pipeline--the IGA will be out of food in minutes--quite the weapon--If you have to go out, the chances of confrontation will explode exponentially when folks realize there ain't no more coming--All it will take is one shot to be fired and it's open season--the mob mentality--going to be lot's of folks starving in church pews praying for a miracle--
And then, if you do have something, there will he those, including the gov't who will want it because you have too much and it must be shared--with them and their families--possible mandated vaccines--one of my lines in the sand--
It will, or it won't--They love drama so much, I think the heat will be coming from a blast furnace--gotta have that shock to get people thinking of straying in line--then again, I thought that for the past 10 years and the lights cam eon this morning--food in the fridge, etc.
Being able to see it before they tell us what they want us to think it is is huge--from there, it boils down and is simplified--a clarity of sorts--
I don't know why some see, and some don't--maybe we all see, but it's in the acceptance of what it--not that we agree, but that we see the reality of that around us--
Back to happy thoughts and life

Jj and others:
I have nothing to contribute other than this, a good book I recently acquired:
http://www.amazon.com/Field-Guide-Edible-Wild-Plants/dp/039592622X
Having stores/supplies is good, but it is not the only strategy, and one needs multiple strategies/ideas/ways/myths/skills/emotions. Don't be tied to one way.
In most areas of this land, there is natural bounty to be found, and most of your neighbors don't know about this natural harvest. (Neither do I, yet, as I've barely opened the book...)
Jj is right. Resolve. Beauty is everywhere... even or especially during sunsets (of all types).
The weather is lovely, still a little too cool for this time of year, flowers open begging for bees who are very few and far between. I think its going to be a sweltering August/September. Americans' net worth shrinks $1.33 trillion in 1Q
This is not a recession or depression at all, this is an in your face rip to satisfy the national debt for decades of interventionism, a debt so huge it can't be paid off. The balancing act is predicated on fear about whatever the bond holders might do about it. This could be why Bush gave away US manufacturing. Its so convoluted now, nobody wants to stop whining and take the time to figure it out. We should be making frends and acting humbly. But no, instead the WHO goes to 6 on Swine and decrees symptom-hiding injections. $$$$$$$$$$$
Publius, what a great book! I've heard Miner's Lettuce is a safe one. The Guinea Pigs love it. The only problem with the forages is they have to be collected very young and are not year-round comestibles. I've never tried freezing them.
