lessons in limited thinking
You wonder why they don't supply batteries with a longer life for all air transport, or back up battery packs that kick in when one gives out. You would have seen something like that in hospital rooms with a saline drip, not high tech at all, just an extra package that takes over when the original is empty. And note as well, the batteries in the black box were intentionally designed to hold a charge for a mere thirty days. Why not a year or five years AND design them with multiple backups? Who was the limited visionary behind such meek projections?
Now, think about all the other variations on air transport in addition to commercial airliners and private planes using these same thirty day batteries that may or may not be carrying a full charge. And while you are thinking about that, keep an eye on the future of space travel which is, as you know, happening now. What then when one of those outrageously expensive and exotic flights into space, such as Virgin Air is currently promoting, runs into a problem similar to that of the disappearance of MH370? Doesn't it remind you of the Titanic? And they think the 2+ mile deep Indian Ocean is a challenge... they have seen nothing yet.
And that little media mention about 15 minutes of oxygen in those tidy little overhead compartments was just another of the never-ending, so-called life saving devices created by that same type of shortsighted mindset, why not a tubed oxygen jacket for mobility whose triple purposes feature a life jacket with a few M.R E.s in the lining, an LED hood beacon and a parachute?
These people are not thinking out of the box. They are skimming the surface to satisfy stockholders who are investors, not EMTs. Someday in the not too distant future, we shall hear of a lost "spaceliner" where there is no radar to track with any certainty what happened or even begin to approach any kind of rescue. This is why the Titanic should be the greatest lesson of all time for long distance travel. By now, we should be preparing for the unimaginable by imagining far beyond the limits of any existing worst case scenario. It would put plenty of people back to valid work again. In a way, it would be the antithesis of DARPA because it isn't a radical departure from reality, definitely not a frivolous venture and offers the built-in opportunity to share information for the good of all.
The problem with the air industry is reliance on the KNOWN aspects of its previous success and failures. What they need is to recognize the childhood of air travel no longer exists, it is now a mature and accepted mode of transportation flying behind the times in the New World and beyond. Where are the technologies for the unthinkable future? Nothing and no one should rely only on past performance to insure success.
Every day is a new day bringing new experiences, good and bad and in between, all of life is about learning.
I predict we will see complex band-aid technologies arise in the aftermath of MH370's fate. I predict the finances to go all the way and keep going there, will not materialize and we will see more disasters from pilot error attempting to adapt to band-aids applied on the backs of existing band-aids. However, there is something wondrous and enlightening with so many international people coming together in the current crisis, which is what we should have been doing all along, but we note the feuding and threats working overtime to obliterate MH370 from the bandwidth. Empire never sleeps. If they have the capacity to cooperate in crisis, why not all the time? With everyone.
Without life, what is empire anyway? Wind blowing sand ...
Weather Report:
You saw the IPCC report. Everyone saw it. And now, everyone that reads news knows because it has been crowned official by an official body and official media. Still, even though they know in the deep recesses of the authentic mind of the self, they drive faster than ever, 85 mph is pushing its way into legality, spewing emissions, outracing the Vagos as the Harleys drown out the helicopters and now we hear the cowboys' militia has gathered over the ridge, but we can't see it because of the brown cloud hanging over the valley, exactly as you would have seen flying into LAX. It is interesting how little of this climate report made its way to the ground. It meant nothing. People are busy, if they are not hustling in some manner, they are enslaved in another. In Present Shock, no one believes in anything but their own physical need. Of course they know the consequences, but hustlers and slaves live only for the moment. In the larger context, this whole set up has achieved exactly that, it is easy to see and yet, it is not really seen, is it. Forethought of consequence does not exist. If a man is not blind, but cannot see, he wants it that way.

Nothing is secure.

a few words,
here and there
he didn't say much
he didn't have to
'sorta like the sheriff
in an old west town
he knew who
the bad actors were
that they would be
brought to task
times were simpler then
in many ways
as if in an old western
the bad guys, always on the run

No amount of cash for caulking or O'care can satisfy the need of Americans. This truly is an emergency that only extending and pretending can cure. NwoW3 could provide a useful tool just like the first two so the expectant mothers of this thing can give birth to new cattle.
Hi Nina.
Mound building and other good things.
One Love, turey.
I'm glad you said that in just that way, Rasta. I would appreciate it if all three of you would elucidate further, mounds? Ahahaha.
Est, very niiiiice.
zepheri, howdy.
Everyday there are global disasters. Interesting another tragedy has befallen Asian families, the water element, present again.

Bandaids for civilization.
Won't work.
That's right, John.
The past is already past.
Don't try to regain it.
The present does not stay.
Don't try to touch it.
From moment to moment.
The future has not come;
Don't think about it
Beforehand.
Whatever comes to the eye,
Leave it be.
There are no commandments
To be kept;
There's no filth to be cleansed.
With empty mind really
Penetrated, the dharmas
Have no life.
When you can be like this,
You've completed
The ultimate attainment.

how who why
what where when
ask me these questions
i'll tell you again
are you listening
this hear then
will we wonder
where we've been
will we worry
what's to be
why we grow old
how we're free
will we listen
and hear again
how who why
what where when

Est, I really like your style, in these two works you've got here and others I've seen here and elsewhere. You are the real thing. You live it. Simple, unadorned, metaphorical.
Have you ever read Benvolio, the Henry James short story? Benvolio was a poet. He forsook a life of title and lavish wealth to live by the sea and continue his studies with his humble sweetheart named Scholastica.

hard to know what to say
i am a scribe, nothing more
if it gets shared it means,
i got a kick out of it, also
i have thousands - no joke
all can be understood by a 5th grader
also, i have noticed most of them
fold back within/upon themselves

thank you

“However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace.”
~ Henry David Thoreau
est,
I really dig your poetry. I keep coming back to this page to ride the winds of your simple, yet succinct prose. Many thanks
Scrap
Agree w/you Scrapsan, Est is a presentist. :)
What a fine mindset to arrange words.

Pomagranate flowering 4 months after planting seedling, Sample planting of old variety corn will give grains for the next planting.
The plants are our ancient allies, approached correctly. Food, healing, companions, inspiration, aroma. A bit of attention and care and they respond so sweetly. Wasps and ants clean and toads have taken residence. My lizard friends come closer for treats.
Preparing a mini lemon grass mound. Will report.
Yea, geopolitrics nasty, what is a tiny soul to do?
But, do it with heart.
One Love, turey in Ja.
