Snowjob

I can’t tell you for sure if the Snowden incident actually happened, I can tell you only vague highlights (think headlights in a thick fog - at night), that you already know and I can also tell you whatever happened didn’t happen in the way it is being presented.  Really now, where’d they get this guy?  Was he cloned and trained just for this moment in time or lured off death row by the promise of a holiday in Hong Kong?  The same applies to nearly everything, maybe all, that has been cultivated, packaged and consumed without having any factual information on what it is exactly that you are ingesting, as if reader content is just more pink slime, as if sand men running around the dunes carried out … well you know, as if that was the beginning of the end of happier days which it was not, impossibly so, from any angle.  The point being we have become inured to these stories because we‘ve been around this block before, it’s the same old song lip synched by the same lame band, pseudo vocalists who appear to us as simple minded in that they repeat themselves ad nauseam.  Have they never heard the story of the boy who cried wolf?  However, each time the wolf snarls, it could very well be a real wolf, except, well, as I said, we’re inured.  How long has this been going on?  Surely you haven’t forgotten Choicepoint?  So why are we being subjected again to threats upon our sacred secrecy policies that are not exactly secret at all?  There could only be one explanation which is, apparently, we are not yet completely in lockstep with created reality.   To the masterminds of heroic murder fiction and spy thrillers, we appear disinterested.  YES!  I realize its hard to grasp such a thing, but no one in their right mind wants to pick up the same book over and over again, unless it’s a Henry James or Chinua Achebe work of exquisite art where every word in every sentence conjures revelation and imagery both good and evil and invites ardent study in order to grasp the full poignancy and utter foolishness of the human species.   Certainly this is yet another good reason to wear earplugs and blinders, the self-styled masters behind these phenomena have to be unable to hire better writers at any price and to any literate person, appear oblivious, which means they like it that way in the same way they like their Chateaubriand.  Perhaps they fell for slick presentations from the slickest of the slick PR/Damage control/Crisis Management consultants all of whom turned out to be duds when what is perceived as an exciting, lucrative, all time best selling crisis by our death-match secret keepers is casually treated with recycled product messages such as Swine Flu at the Podium, Bin Laden Deepsix or Bush Drops From the Sky as Jesus in Flackwear.  Besides, there is so much else going on, every day, wonderful and atrocious, we no longer have the time, interest or desire to freak out.  It is a fact of life in our overproduced and counterproductive environment, the human being’s natural defense mechanism is activated to turn away from that which causes anguish, suffering, harm and pain. Our lives are local and in local territory there are unwritten rules of genial conformity tempered with much compassion largely adhered to with an exception here and there.  Normal people don’t speak in acronyms or define whatever it is they’re pushing with MIC-speak.  Normal people have no way to translate journalists’ dialogue filled with words and statements such as breached, intelligence and leak and the overused unclear, "It remains unclear due to ongoing..."  The meaning behind this language is completely lost on vast numbers of citizens, it simply is not in their vernacular.

What is truth for locals are hourly wages, food on the table and their children.  As much as I detest this city, its dirt and its ubiquitous evil, equally I love the diversity.  From my observation, the US born white guy is the minority here.  Of course, it is that very diversity that is the spinal cord buttressing the local monoculture of obscene wealth in wanton ignorance to the outside world and its ongoing disasters just as blood circulation is to the heart.  As far as that monoculture is concerned why should they care either?  They, too, are busy with their own version of local.  They care only to the extent of returns on the dollar.

It seems the only people(?) that are having hissies over the current revival, Its Snowing in Snowden, are the producers and their agents.  There is a point, of that we can be sure, why such events take place and are, as you have noticed, escalating and that point is M-o-n-e-y.  You might disagree, but power and control are expensive products to maintain and to insure their viability into the far future.

If you haven’t been keeping up with Arthur Silber’s takes on this issue, you are missing the best thinking and writing available anywhere.

Bush Drops From the Sky as Jesus in Flackwear is about as good as it gets. This post of yours is great too. Having spent 20 long years as a Marketing and Advertising guy (not proud of it but had two kids to support) I can honestly say that they are truely evil. I worked for the company that bought Choicepoint in 2008. Compiling data has been going on for quite awhile. Snowden is just a leaking plant. Leaks are controlled by Big Corp and the government even when we percieve them to be of the kind that we are now witnessing from Snowden for our supposed benefit. It is all about control. Telling ourselves stories about who we think we are, which is based on what the marketers tell us and how we should recognize our own worth we play right into their hands. Marketing is meant to base our values on sustaining what is unsustainable. In other words to keep the game going. It is not the existing world it is only the world they want us to recognize.

AS Gary Snyder says: The watershed is our only local mandala, one that gives us all, human and non-human, a territory to interact in. That is the beginning of dharma citizenship: not membership in a social or national sphere, but in a larger community citizenship. In other words, a local community. All of that is in there, like Dogen when he says, 'When you find your place, practice begins.' It means self-organizing," he says. "It means elegantly self-disciplined, self-regulating, self-maintained. That's what wilderness is. Nobody has to do the management/marketing plan for it. So I say to people, "let's trust in the self-disciplined elegance of wild mind". Practically speaking, a life that is vowed to simplicity, appropriate boldness, good humor, gratitude, unstinting work and play, and lots of walking, brings us close to the actually existing world and its wholeness."

This make more sense to me then the setting up of what I should like or dislike, because as we know this is the disease of the mind. And in complete agreement Arthur Silber is on fire

Thanks for so much confirmation Scrap. We are not crazy, dillusional or prevaricators, just simple observers, disenchanted and mostly disgusted with that branch of our species, out on a limb and screeching in righteousness, unable to leave well enough alone. They need to STFU and quit grandstanding.

They remind me of the game played by children at parties, on a large yellow mat with big spots, attempting to cover every one of the spots with their body parts.

I left Silbur off once I quit blogging, always liked his point of view. I am putting him back on.

I always liked the Tibetan monks point of view. They draw things in the sand and then destroy it.

One told me decades ago, there is a great day coming for humanity, when the earth expands to several times present size, all on it die including bacteria, the Gods then come again to seed it with better DNA next time around. LOL

You can tell Bho is attuned to the suffering of animals. Sometimes I look at them and you can almost hear them saying, maybe I will get a human body next time and I won't cause suffering and torture animals like humans do now.

Maybe the new earth to come will have creatures who don't need food. Maybe they can just exist on energy. This planet is supposed to have more when things settle down. I am crazy thinking all of this? Maybe. The creator can do anything.

I am sure the there are worse planets than this one. Maybe the killers can go there and cannibalize each other. Just a thought.

I have about said all I need to say, thinking about giving up this blogging again.

Mick, doesn't the fracturing taking place on the sea floor mean the plates are over and under-lapping eventually reuniting the continents of North America, North Africa, Europe and whomever else is in the way?

I don't believe the JJFH is hypothetical at all. About time someone started clocking the incidents and put a very logical name to it.

There is nothing we can do about it either, for all the reasons you already know.

We are staring into an abyss where nature and all living matter are at war. Nature will win, the continents will shift places and we will be long extinct if the planet doesn't burn out first.

I agree with you there must be planets where it is worse, planets that are hells in varying degrees of self destruction, places like Mars tell the story, a former living planet in its dead cycle.

Yes Nina that is the way I understand it, there is some overlapping of the plates. Portugal has had some monumental quakes in the past. Padre Pio's church at one time was the only thing left standing in one area.

He by the way seemed to be an authentic clairvoyant, a rare commodity for the church.

You are right, nothing anybody can do about it but simply witness what is going on. I try and understand why things are happening. I have always felt billions of people were on the planet to witness something monumental.

I have noticed some sites now want a sign in. I don't know what that is all about. Some give what I call the blue block and you cannot comment. Need to put in the code. Then there is yours, don't know how you arrange it but you can simply post here.

Apropos for the first day of summer, "Do not burn yourself out. Be as I am-a reluctant enthusiast… a part time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it is still there. So get out there and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains. Run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive."

What about me was recorded: October 8, 1970> I was listening to this Quicksilver Messenger Service song this morning in my car on the way to work. I got to thinking how wrong we have gone chasing money and all the stuff of comfort and feel goodness. The words ring true and as the great Walt Whitman says; Resist Much, Obey Little.

You poisoned my sweet water.
You cut down my green trees.
The food you fed my children
Was the cause of their disease.
My world is slowly fallin' down
And the air's not good to breathe.
And those of us who care enough,
We have to do something...

(Chorus)
Oh... oh What you gonna do about me?
Oh... oh What you gonna do about me?
Your newspapers,
They just put you on.
They never tell you
The whole story.
They just put your
Young ideas down.
I was wonderin' could this be the end
Of your pride and glory?

(Chorus)
I work in your factory.
I study in your schools.
I fill your penitentiaries.
And your military too!
And I feel the future trembling,
As the word is passed around.
"If you stand up for what you do believe,
Be prepared to be shot down."

(Chorus)
And I feel like a stranger
In the land where I was born
And I live like an outlaw.
And I'm always on the run...
And I'm always getting busted
And I got to take a stand...
I believe the revolution
Must be mighty close at hand...

(Chorus)
I smoke marijuana
But I can't get behind your wars.
And most of what I do believe
Is against most of your laws
I'm a fugitive from injustice
But I'm goin' to be free.
'Cause your rules and regulations
They don't do the thing for me

(Chorus)
And I feel like a stranger
In the land where I was born
And I live just like an outlaw.
And I'm always on the run.
And though you may be stronger now, my time will come around.
You keep adding to my numbers, and you shoot my people down.

Amazing how we are still at it and will be till the bitter end

If I’ve learned anything about the world by my age, it’s that most of the world, myself included, is composed of talkers, not doers.

There are very few exceptions to this rule. The good news is, you can be one if you want.

The ability to act is not something you’re born with. Change is a skill you can learn– as long as you have the guts to actually do it.

I’ve changed a lot in my life, but it’s not because I’m special. I just created special circumstances. Whatever you want is usually easier to get than you think, as long as you are willing to adapt and do what is necessary.

Chuang Tzu (369—298 BCE)was an early and influential Taoist philosophers. Also known as Zhuang Zhou or Zhuangzi, he worked as a minor official for a small town in China during the late 4th century BCE, and a follower of the philosophy of the Tao, which teaches the principle of wu-wei, “not-doing.”

Here is the beginning of Chapter 18 Kih Lo or “True Happiness” based on the translations by James Legge and Burton Watson.

Is there such a thing as true happiness to be found in the world or isn’t there? Is there some way to preserve your life or isn’t there? If so, what should you do, what should you rely on, avoid, stick by, follow, leave alone? In other words, what should you find happiness in, what should you hate?

The world honors wealth, fame, longevity, a good name. The world finds happiness in a life of ease, good food, fine clothes, beautiful sights, pleasant music. It looks down on poverty, meanness, early death, a bad name. It finds bitter a life that knows no rest, a mouth hungry for good food, a body with no fine clothes, eyes that see no beautiful sights, ears that hear no sweet music. If people do not get these things they fret a great deal and are troubled with fears – isn’t it silly?

Now, those who are rich wear themselves out rushing around on business, piling up more wealth than they could ever use – so concerned with external things. Famous people spend night and day worrying if they are skillful – indifferent to more important things. Birth is the beginning of a person’s suffering, and when there is longevity, people just become sillier, spending more time with worry than with living – what a great bitterness.

People of passion are regarded by the world as good, but neither their passion nor their goodness can keep them alive. I wonder if the goodness ascribed to them is really good or not. Perhaps it’s good – but not good enough to save their lives. Perhaps it’s no good – but still good enough to save the lives of others. Hence, it is said, if good advice isn’t listened to, sit still, give way, and do not wrangle. Tzu-hsu wrangled and destroyed his body. But if he hadn’t wrangled, he would not have acquired his fame. Was this goodness really goodness or was it not?

As to what ordinary people find happiness in – I don’t know whether this is really happiness or not. I see them in their pursuit of it, racing around as though they cannot stop – they will say they’re happy, or they’re not happy . . . In the end is there really happiness or isn’t there?

I consider doing nothing to obtain happiness to be true happiness, but ordinary people do not understand this. It’s said that true happiness is to be without happiness, the highest praise is to be without praise. The world can’t make up its mind what is right and what is wrong. And yet doing nothing can determine it. Since supreme happiness is found in keeping the body alive, only by doing nothing can you accomplish it!

Let me try putting it this way. Space does nothing, and thence comes its serenity; Earth does nothing, and thence comes its peace. Through the union of these two inactions all things are transformed and brought to life. Wonderful, mysterious, they seem to come from nowhere! Wonderful, mysterious, they have no visible sign! Each thing minds its business and grows from this inaction. So I say, space and earth do nothing and there is nothing that is not done. But who among us can attain this inaction?

I can't guarantee that film is real but if it is, there certainly is something by the sun. The sun has just put out a big flare also.

I stumbled onto something else also, Daved Chase Taylor is not getting the press Snowden is over his whistle blowing and request for asylum in Switzerland.

It might be like aangirfan points out, snowden is highly connected to the elite in his family. Maybe he just needs a vacation to Israel. LOL

There was a 6.6 quake on the Atlantic Ridge, no talk of tsunami yet but there was a small one in Jersey Shore this month that nobody talks much about. (maybe Snooki had it coming) never liked her anyway.

I am going up for a class reunion soon and then to the Doc museum. I am getting older but there won't be anybody there who can talk more shit than me. Plan to get in some poker! Of course most of them won't believe a thing I say anyway, they know me too well.

They just live their day to day lives and I keep track of all the "weird stuff". I guarantee you nobody there will know what in the hell Teowawki is.

For Dubs:
"A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined primarily by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive." -- Albert Einstein

I like uncle Albert. Maybe just holding open the door, broadcasting that into certain classes. Most do not remember those visions, think that is more relative than the situation calls for. That is okie dokie, but it really hard after drawing pictures, and using math, and symbols, after a while. Kind of looks messy with those entreatments, maybe it comes down to how the eyes and blood play with these machines, not really linear for any blaming.

Everyone is all about who watches the Watchers. The question answers through mutants, and monsters, not the contenders, just memories that do not follow the rules, at least, not anything a child knows, from the start.

From my friend, Swami M, a true human being, asking that this be passed on:

How to pay for this life of the 5 Debts.

Scriptures say that every human being is born owing five important debts, and they must repay those karmic debts during their lifetime.

Debts paid by living a good and honest life, rituals and offerings, most important love.
Debt to Ancestors and teachers: paid by supporting them, having children of one's own and or passing along knowledge.
Debt to Guests: repaid by treating them as if they were gods visiting one's home.
Debt to All Humankind (manushyarun): Mutual co-operation and serving others can help to repay this debt to humankind- such as giving money, clothes, shelter and land, to poor people, giving food and water to hungry people and helping orphans-or any other with help that is appropriate.

The fifth debt to the cosmic elements and everything that arises out of them (bhutrun) means debt to Nature — a person is indebted to plants, trees, birds, animals and nature (called Bhuta Rin) — repaid by offering good will, food, water, or any other help that is appropriate.

Repaying these five debts, called pancha-maha-yajna yoga, is compulsory in life. By these five yajna the individual places them self in correct relations with ancestors, spirits, humanity, the organic creation, nature.
