7 billion x to the power of 7 billion

Welcome to the Dark Side where the boundary between moral and immoral, good and evil, is but a childhood game of pretend, having nothing in common with typical adult behaviors in this twenty-first century cage match called life.

You are aware, of course, of the Bell Curve visually representing the rise and decline of Peak oil.  You would also then be aware of our position on the downside, sliding off peak and accelerating downhill, which naturally is the only way it would come about, through Newton's Law, even though nobody imagined it would really happen in quite the way it is happening today.

Here is the real problem that we face and here is its name, too many are locked into abject confusion about it since seldom in the human social arena is the root cause addressed for what it actually is, which is  - Overpopulation.  On one hand, speaking up, even quietly, places you into the usual Doomer-Paranoid-Schizophrenic categories while remaining silent is a compromise that won't lie down for long without unhinging your mental survival.  Others are unconcerned, more than a few are just too stupid, most by far have no idea how severe the problem is while the problem, unaddressed, only worsens by the hour.  Ah, hello, Mister Pope? Anybody home there? We've long passed unsustainable, we are peaked out, the signs screaming for attention and intentionally ignored in the face of economic growth by those whom you would think certainly know better.  As long as the ego's needs are met, there is no problem.

The next time you find yourself sitting in traffic, take a good look at your surroundings, take note of the decals emblazoned in obese fonts with neon hues on westerners' windsheilds, "American Patriot",  "I'm not a bitch, I'm THE Bitch" or the rednecks' fave, bin Laden pissing.  These indicate a desperation to stand out among the writhing masses, wouldn't you say, a loneliness so severe that attention is drawn by means of annoying hapless passersby?   You might also say its obvious they have no identity anymore (if they ever had any to begin with) and obscene decals are the best they could scrabble together in saying "I am alive, look at me, I count dammit!"

The noise and overamped illusions slam into our lives and lifestyles in competitive proportion to the ignorance, people who are capable of intellectual reasoning cannot help but question their sanity and in the questioning resort to resolve their discomfort and alienation through layers of complex adjustment which does nothing at all seriously effective towards any solution.   Can it be the clock has already run out?  It very well may be too late.   Consider your personal experience in this new world before further shrugging.  If the agenda of the CFR is curbing overpopulation, and we do not know if it is or is not, and if it is, how intense an effort is put forth, they are doing everyone including themselves a humiliating disservice by not fully disclosing the fundamentals in full required to reign in over-breeding.

The situation concerns us, must we remind you, without us, you have nothing.

Considering we are all united, (simply being alive together at this strange time is uniting in itself) from blades of grass to cleverly dexterous, manipulative predators, all of us in competition for sunlight, food and water, frankly, I am floored the subject remains so indefinite, so vague, heh, a National Geographic style series about something happening somewhere else perhaps, nothing to get excited about, after all, what can we do?  The line is more than established about what we can do and what we can not.  When your own law begins with DO NO HARM, is there really any need for further elaboration?  What we have before us is a MASSIVE, unimaginable to most, horrifying disaster unfolding as we read here today.  Everything happening to our planet, and this means happening to you personally, yes, you, in your very own skin, regardless of station or habitat, will expand in magnitude quickly far surpassing all that seems difficult and unmanageable today, and continue to exponentially spread outwards imprisoning and incapacitating every single living being, every single life, every species and landmass above and below the Earth's surface, every body of water, every resource, everything that exists, until forced oblivion by whatever means puts a halt to the madness.

This is not a situation blameable on the twenty four hour news cycle or Wall Street or the illusions of politics or unscrupulous activities of the personhoods or the sudden appearance of encyclopedias at our disposal or terrorism, those elements among countless others are the Side Effects spawned by the Great Human Disaster.  This problem is social across the board.  We are attempting to survive, very often casually, with merrymaking and homilies, inside a worsening nightmare as the flesh eating disease ravages our planet.   It should not have been this way, wrought though denial, deceit, directed diversion, plying the gullibility of the innocent with invented fables and caricatures to live by.  Rather than bear responsibility, fingers are pointed in every direction, while the ugly root remains behind a dark veil, in the maggot-infested root cellar, unacknowledged as it must be in order maintain civil appearances cultivated though lurid nonsense.  Defrocking much of that nonsense has been the task of this blog from inception.

Truly, it perfectly parallels classic philosophy problems in its dilemma characteristics, questions without answers, contradiction and cyclical argument, intense self-examination as the seemingly impossible shifts into fact.  In debate, the dilemma is usually glossed over as too overwhelming, too conflicting, exacerbating moral hazard and the casualty of bias.  We'd better get real about this soon and start talking about it everywhere, all the time, but in order to do so, we must first accept the scope of the situation and accept where it is taking us, no easy task in the ugly face of hope and belief.

... They all know it is there, some of them have come to see it, others are content merely to know it is there. They all know that it has to be there. Some of them understand why, and some do not, but they all understand that their happiness, the beauty of their city, the tenderness of their friendships, the health of their children, the wisdom of their scholars, the skill of their makers, even the abundance of their harvest and the kindly weathers of their skies, depend wholly on this child's abominable misery. ...
from The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula K. LeGuin

If you want to insure your handle on just how grotesque it is already, go somewhere you once lived five or ten, twenty years ago and note the changes, relate those changes to societal changes elsewhere and stack them up, with a little brief mental math the future becomes immediately predictable, and not just your own future, but that of everything else.  Not even in death with creditors freely grave robbing and Potter's Field, the notorious SoCal paupers' cemetery, legally approved for cremation clearing the land for construction, does it end.  Overpopulation will continue to startle and exceed expectation without impediment as long as we allow it.

Where are the controls?  The census, an economic tool - is not exactly a solution, now is it.  The census surely can not come close to anything accurate in these decades of belligerent fraud.  Whatever numbers they release this time around are likely absent an overwhelming amount of skilled system gamers.  Once a help, now a hindrance, just another sad vehicle keeping the truth sealed ...

It is nothing short of a shock to face this emerge-and-see in its fullness.  Considering the spectacular injustices taking place within the span of our lifetimes, it would not be a surprise to learn global warming, or whatever you prefer to call it, was not set up deliberately to deal with this issue unbeknownst to civilization at large.  You'll have to think about that one for awhile.  Think about HAARP and chemtrails while you are at it.  There is a disturbing pattern to the presentation, initially vehemently denied, now weakly acknowledged, remaining for the most part resisted, but only seemingly so and always redirected in favor of system reinforcement agendas.

It is reality altered as all reality is altered by the individual preference to seek or to reject at any given time, thoroughly dependent on how such a variable fits into the human's personal survival plan on any particular day.

I would appreciate some sincere discussion, if possible.  There are plenty of links, I've seen them, most dare not veer into spectacular disaster territory however, lacking the direct link to our unwieldy present state of affairs.  Something's gotta give, my friends, and soon.

FYI, this subject is not about sex, pharmaceutics showed us that much with the advent of birth control.  This issue is practically unfathomable in its magnitude, it is the greatest dilemma our planet faces.   It was coming, it was predicted, the predictions are being surpassed while anyone who actually is in position to address the crisis is made a fool, subject to the off-topic censoring by economic dictates and all the accompanying falderal which equates to dillydallying.   Dillydallying only takes place when time is being bought and in this case time is working against ALL of us.

I acknowledge that it is up to the individual to live out their days as an example of what can be done beneficially, but in reality incessant consumerization utterly fails to encourage restraint.

We are standing on the edge of the end.  None of us wants to see any further increase in the horror of these times, but it is guaranteed greater and more extractive horrors awaiting just up the road will make our lives a living hell on Earth in practically no time at all. All that which we once thought we would not live to see, we are seeing now.  Are you ready for more?  No, you are absolutely not and I am not, either.  What is coming does not appear remotely survivable.

Ask yourself, does the human species possess intelligence specifically to counter Universal built-in extinction?

Thank-you Nina. Its early in the day so I trust this all makes sense.

Many Thoughts - the wars are not about oil - perhaps on the surface of it. What they are about, is a complete co-opting of a fledgling and sparkling and quintesentially human consciousness - whether this existed previously on our earth according to myth, or not. In myth and true history, we find similar periods.

The initial slow, and now dizzying fast dissipation of any moral resonance, any sovereignty and any real connection of a spiritual kind, is very very deliberate - complete colonization of minds! ownership of consciousness! This is what is the prize! It is nice that there is oil there, or water, or trees or whatever that can be stolen. What is happening is no less than a complete transformation of the last vestiges of independent thought into a cubicle farm made up of manufactured quasi-computerized, non-sentient simulacra of something that was once called human.

We are slaves. There exists a tyranical matrix of control, and some of us are Spartacus (not the Starz interpretation) in the original interpretation of one slave human who reclaimed sovereignty and perhaps in a way, 'walked away from Omelas', in death.

Is this thing, this juggernaut, this total onslaught, this 'final battle', this Yuga, this end of the age survivable? In terms of consciousness, yes. In terms of any other sphere, specifically that of a paradise for human consciousness and physicality, I don't know. I see massive manipulation in every form, erosion of reason and mocking of values of the human kind. And I see people flocking to be manipulated - in a type of domestic inner tyranny that by its nature, has to be applied to all around us. I also see around us the original inhabitants taking their power back, but in a small way if one measures against the totality. They say: "We know the names of those who are perpetrating this crime against humanity. We know who they are and where they are."

Like John Lash (ignoring for a moment that I was mad angry with him), they say that we are to learn the methods that the matrix of control utilizes and use these methods against them. John Lash is clear ... to the death we must fight, he says.

Walking away from Omelas to a space that may or may not exist, to my mind currently will bring one to simply walking. The child in Omelas will remain, even if we walk. In a very real way, I have walked away, but Omelas brought me back. I walked away again, and it is as if the powers of heaven conspired to drag me back. To be true, no-one in Omelas want to have discourse with me, but nevertheless, you walk away, and something unfinished, perhaps the child, will bring one back.

I have not yet known anyone that has found that space, fully and in an enduring manner. My thinking goes that that space is ours to create, if we have any energetic and resonance left.

I have not yet known anyone that has found that space, fully and in an enduring manner. My thinking goes that that space is ours to create, if we have any energetic and resonance left. Anyway, enough of the serious stuff ... here is a space, Vissarion, that looks like a fun space, and the small documentary is quite topical in saying at the end there ... There is the place, that you can go to! and I enjoyed the mini documentary from what seemed to be somewhat of a clueless fellow, but the child is still in bondage.

Apologies for the duplicated paragraph ... here towards the end. It is not that I'm in love with my own musings .. really. It was an error.

Hello Ms. Deep.....we are immortal, however these bodies are not!.....the sequential incarnates are trying to colonize our consciousness( hive mentality), lock step living, if you call that living...I agree with amarynth!

The simultaneous incarnates are the wild cards in this galaxy game....we who love our freedom and individuality and express this energy everyday are the game changers!

The increase of control over humanity and de-population of our planet is in full swing and getting worse because of the awakening that is beginning to flower......

All true enough, and in many instances more true than anyone would want. But another (inverted) Bell Curve we're rounding is the Kali Yuga, and a yuga is a long, long time. It didn't all just start yesterday, and it won't be over tomorrow. Some things can't be rushed, no matter what we might wish for personally.

Universal built-in extinction is a big assumption, is it not?
I think before we step foot into the issue of human population of the earth, there is a greater threat to all life namely the 1000's of nuclear weapon stock piles, and the yoke of oppression from the concentration of power and addiction to it's source money.
Duck and Cover, I'm pretty sure you remember those drills from the cold war era. That world that is balanced by truth is something that to many of us are ready to see realized. How it manifest is not in one persons hands. I do tarot reads on some of the things I read on the internet. On this post it came in this way; You are overwhelmed or even in bondage to shadows, and a sense of gaurdianship. You are searching for signs of hope amid a sense of doom, and ready to move on. Looking within is a good start.
Best of Wishes on your path!

Deeply moving, profound comments today, very grateful.
To the people new to this blog, yes, I take thought leaps and make broad assumptions and expect everyone who reads here to keep up with me. To expect any less would be a gross underestimate of the tribe's intelligence. I trust if any handle can be grasped on this particular issue, it will happen right here.

Many thanks and much love to all of you. Will be around shortly... Praise Jah for dogs and long walks in the desert.

Do we need oil? Or Would we be able to clothe and feed ourselves in relatively small communities,,,,,could we restrict our use of oil so much we don't actually need it,,,have heard that 99% of oil is turned into other things other than fuel,,ie plastic junk, that is thrown into rubbish tips and left,,,
Maybe we are just at the point on a species wide scale where we know it's impossible to go on like this,,,,,am a great believer in where there's a problem there is a solution their must be otherwise the problem wouldn't of appeared
,,
Anyway We need a fair distribution system ,,, ween ourselves off of oil,,,, indigenous community's success for so long the way they do is because they use everything ,,don't have rubbish,,or only very little,,,,,,,

The world could quite easily sustain 7 billion people,,,,but not if we carry on the way we are,,,,,,
We in the west need to learn how to slow down
,,we need to have a species wide think,,, but first the tyrannical forces must be removed.....

That just seems to be how things go from better to worse. I for one champion a return to survival of the fittest. Many of the weak need to go this will be sorted out as always.

I can finally see the beauty in Su's desire an asteroid come along. And Aang's and Terrance's comments concerning immortality are heartening, I agree with them. How many of you caught the Torchwood: Miracle Day series last fall? It began with a so-called "miracle day" when people, globally, stopped dying. The series turned hokey, but the beginning was interesting, and gruesome, a beginning where worldwide attrition ended overnight and all hell broke loose. Not even martial law made a difference since bullets could not kill. Justice vanished. Medicine has the capability to keep the body going, recall Terry Schiavo required an executive order to be removed from life support.
Now what happens when Fukushima can no longer be contained? We really are in uncharted territory here. I am asking you to conjure because of where our world is today.

Amarynth, a beautiful comment all around, every word. Thank you.
...they say that we are to learn the methods that the matrix of control utilizes and use these methods against them. John Lash is clear ... to the death we must fight, he says. ...

This is what is most troubling, this encourages a long and violent ending, I cannot agree with this in principle and certainly not in action. I refuse to possess a weapon. I refuse to seek revenge and do harm. What's more, I know I am not alone in this. A great many of us will NOT go there. Would you?

nina said...

Amarynth, in addition, it is not a logical solution. Let's say "our side" wins. That kind of makes "our side" equally depraved. To have overtaken by sheer violence is a repeat of how the white man ripped off the Native Americans, ET CETERA.

Zepheri, there is a lot to Darwin's theory. I've always agreed he had it correct. I hope you read the related item at the end of the post, it concerns Zoological associations attempt to mix entertainment economics with survival of the fittest species. Its a horrible place to have to go, isn't it? But its already moving along at a promising clip.

Alan, what an astounding reading! Thank you!!! I am very grateful you took the time for this subject.

Your lists of other impending glooms show us the delicate balancing act going on, it could blow any time or ... it could remain in the air for awhile, but not too long, the burden is impossible as it is. This is the "I don't know" part others are experiencing.

nina said...

Excellent perspective Izzy. It is too easy to forget in the rush of daily survival. We'll never have any solutions if we're preoccupied with seeking immediate answers. All things in their time, all things in moderation.

I mean that sincerely.

nina said...

Neil... Maybe we are just at the point on a species wide scale where we know it's impossible to go on like this... Those of our species that acknowledge there is a problem without being under some boot to do so, are in agreement, they have been for a long time, but their views are traditionally not taken to heart. I would hope this changes fast, but as you know, hope is not a realistic way to go about anything. Maybe its enough to firmly recognize it is out of control and set our own examples? To stay on top of it and do our parts to increase awareness through our own creative works?
We have seen some rather successful social change come about already with smoking and breast feeding and the way these behaviors were handled in order to achieve any success has been through worldwide education of the public. Therefore, first, those of our species in denial must be educated about the issue and share the responsibility. That's the hard part, no one sees themselves as responsible. More than a few LOVE things just the way they are. to actually take responsibility means everything they lived for and dreamed about is backwards to Earth's survival.

neil said...

There is definitely a solution to every problem,,,,
I suppose it is the atmospheric condition within the individual and the community that determines the clarification of the solution and how that comes into realisation,,,,,
Darwin was used as a means to justify servitude to a false paradigm,,,,,let's forget Darwin he wasn't really saying anything that humanity didn't know already......and he came from a culture that was at war with itself spiritually an physically,,,,,he was another propaganda video of the time,,,,,inbred and weak,,,,

Peak Oil i don't buy, never did. Hydrocarbons are created in a continual process between the boundary of the Mantle and the Lithosphere. I'm not endorsing it's continued use, just pointing out yet another manipulation of our mental landscapes. The present population is a direct result of the quantity of funny money printed over the last 300 years, a sort of black magic bringing all these souls into being for the purposes of later sacrifice. I repeat, without the present fiat currency system, the present population would not be anywhere near what it is now.

Ironically, it is petroleum that has allowed overpopulation. It is petroleum that has spawned the technologies that allow for virtually instantaneous communication among the teeming billions.
When petroleum runs out, so does overpopulation. The non-existent problem is solved.

As usual someone has said it better than I already - John Trudell. On this topic it is worth while checking out a few of his videos. Check out the videos that he has out there and specifically a series - What it means to be a Human Being - it is in 4 parts.

"We participate in this reality based upon our perception of our inabilities" And this is so. This all gets way deep and we need a week at least sitting together.

Who are we 'against'? What are those? Do they share our humanity? Who is impoverishing, killing, maiming our species and those sentient beings that we share this land with? Why? Talking realities and not 'fluffies'.

What's to do? Is it even worth while thinking about 'survival'? And at what cost comes that survival? On the question of violence, no, I can't fight with weapons and bombs and such action. 'They' anyway are stronger on this level. But on other levels, they are also our masters. Again Trudell puts it that we are being mined ... as the earth is being mined, our minds are being mined.

The situation is kinda simple in a way... humanity, species almost, on one end of the continiuum, and some force on the other side - a duality. So, there seem to not be many choices. We stay still, and let be what will be - we keep using writing, art and perhaps social action to do something at least - and we will be killed or otherwise taken out of this life regardless and our minds will be mined and our consciousness will be damaged. This could be OK, but the 'child' in the story will remain shackled and that child will be deleted from this life and consciousness in general will be dimmed.

But if one considers that we are in a vibratory reality, things become different and possibilities change. So, now we have (using Trudell´s word), a 'predatory reality arrayed against', us, and we can further coherently disengage. A coherent and consistent act. That would be an exceedingly violent act in the eyes of that predatory reality of course.

Really, Trudell says this all much better. And the What's to do Part also need a week or two around the fire with the drums.

On the question of violence, we all abhor the violence, emotional, physical and warlike. We have possibly all worked through our own internal 'black bag of violence', faced the enemy which in the end analysis is us, and hopefully found the core of good truth inside and that is what we display and that is our daily energetic that other people can viscerally feel and almost touch. I don't know about you, but I am surely walking that very difficult Siddartha road ...

Babies are Born and Increase the Population

Every soul that is born is kissed by an angel, then knows love.
Immediately angels fly with beating wings, to the feet of she who created love.
and in the all is heard - another human baby has arrived. New baby born, hosanna,
a little god a little goddess.
When one comes not she does cry.

See in her tears tiny figures gazing out
we want to be with you, mother just to be with you
Mother help us the tiny call and shout
little souls captured in her tears, rise away
not now to play on earth and realize their fate, here they cannot stay
in distress she looks away
the angels shudder because more have left
and the kissing mother's heart is broke she so bereft

a somber angelic group do take the tears
hide their faces, will not show fear
it will never be final they raise their spears
and fly away ooo noo noo
to a place where the tears will stay
in a silver, golden case each will lay

the plan is to kill her here
she to go elsewhere
they can't, do not have the power
if enough new babes all do die
it’s won the dark will gather
and we can abandon all hope
to holes the evil slithers
sorry, all here will die if she must go

He close by turns to her
looks with grief and anger
this place he did hope love would win
she plead for it
used her love then he must say yea
correct the relationship so so fey
she smiled and fixed him with her eyes
he must look away, sighs
love conquers all

now tiny souls are to go
do you understand do you know
abandon all hope - what’s the point
anybody?
to our lives - something to do with babies
and choice
God Dam It

Dear Nina,

I would have to disagree that our biggest problem is over population. I see our biggest problem as stupidity. (which you also mentioned) Now, I never even passed year 10, but it doesn't require a certificate in retention to absolve one from stupidity. Stupidity lies in fear and fear can result in the retention of many and varied hypotheses which over time more often than not prove foolish and untrue. A waste of time.

The only way out of stupidity is to see how we are all connected via the Supreme Being. Strangely enough this isn't taught in schools or the wider community in a way that empowers the individual. Go figure??? God, (or whatever you want to call Him/Her), has to be made front and center of all we do via the vehicle of selfless service as nothing can exist outside of this, anytime, anyplace, period. We need a personal relationship with the Divine and have the courage to honor it when the chips are down. How else can we face death without a qualm?
Easier said than done, sure. But even that is a matter of an understanding of the sense of urgency and a willingness to put everything else aside in your quest to attain this. It is also important to understand that the Divine's sense of time has nothing to do with ours. All these things have happened so many times before it's kind of comical. And yet we still hold on.

At the beginning of the Bhagavad Gita Arjuna is asked to stand and fight, as he wanted to retire to the forest, the end of BG he stands and fights, For Krishna. I'm not by any means saying to go out and get a weapon, not in the slightest iota. You are standing and fighting right here in your blog and I am sure those around you are made aware of your inability to accept bullshit. To fight is to stand in truth especially at the time of death.

I am of the opinion there is fuck all we can do about the outcome of this whole show, the whole human experiment on a broader scale. In a way our destiny is set. Except for that little we can do on ourselves which varies in degree's on any one day. How can we shift that great momentum careening toward self destruction bought about by the majority? To many people with an interest in an outcome directed toward personal material gain, (subtle and gross).

Stupidity.

Besides Divine Intervention (maybe Via the Great Sun), It looks like we are headed toward a Nuclear waste toxic overload set to lay this place to ruin for maybe hundreds of thousands of years. A sad prospect to say the least. But what happens if/when Fukushima leads to a global power out which leads to the other 400 or 800, or however many there are, going critical? Not a pretty sight or thought, but something that is on the cards. How on earth can we keep the power on and these hot houses cool for hundreds/thousands of years?

Death is coming to be sure. Make peace within as a vehicle for getting out of here once and for all. That's the good thing about Kali Yuga. It is very easy to become detached, and seek the Supreme, as this is no place for a gentle wo/man.

Than you for reminding me as i was feeling quite down yesterday.
I see this as the Love Tribe's job/service. To remind each other and keep our focus on that which is always with us. And that is worth fighting for here, there and anywhere for all time.

Love and Respect...

(Excerpts from the Epic Ramayana)

Oh Man, I am the demon warrior Indrajit, hard to see. I fight invisibly, hidden by enchantment from your sight. I attack behind the wild winds of evil thought. I put out many lights left unguarded. I know you, and good deeds done in life are your only shield when you must die and go alone past me to another world. You may hide at night from the Sun, but never from your own heart--where lives Lord Narayana (Vishnu). The entire worlds are watching your deeds, and therefore forgiveness is Dharma.

Valmiki the Poet looked down into the water held cupped in his hand and saw into the past. Before he looked, he thought the world was sweet poison. Men seemed to be living in lies, not knowing where their ways went. The days seemed made of ignorance and doubt, and cast from deception and illusion. But in the water he saw--a dream, a chance, and a great adventure. Valmiki trusted the True and forgot the rest; he found the whole universe like a bright jewel set firm in forgiving and held fast by love.

Widen your heart. Abandon anger. Believe me, your few days are numbered; make one fast choice now and no second!

Come, clear your heart and quickly walk with me into Brahma, while there is time.

It is raining.
It only rains about 20 days of the year so I am inside.
Happen to be watching the Levenson inquiry and there is tony blair.
I manage a minute of his performance and find myself needing to purge.
Come back and watch some more and the same urge arises.
The man who burst in and accused him of war crime is bundled out and arrested whilst this man who has been instrumental in the death of so many and in the destruction of functioning nations is not only apologized to but is allowed to continue stringing words together that have no meaning at all.
Word after word, concept after concept, idea after idea. With that fake public school charisma and the whole charm offensive.
We have all seen photos of him with the papal set, the pedophiliac satanists. We all know what he is about.

For some reason this is the reality right now. Sickness beyond measure.

But there is another reality.
I head out in the rain. Here, in nature, there is no twisted perversion. Everything is as it should be. The plants receive the water, the animals shelter from the wet, the clouds drop their gifts, my feet place themselves one after the other, the breathing continues, the heart beat strengthens.

If only we could see who and what we really are we would tremble in awe at our power. We must not forget that we are the supreme being. Nothing less than that.

Regardless if we are in 100% agreement, the comments are the most impassioned ever. I'm impressed. What we are doing appears to be putting as much out there as we are comfortable doing - which is wonderful. From this position, we can get an overview and better formulate our own efforts. There is no question OUR EYES ARE WIDE OPEN, nothing is going down that escapes this awareness shown by your words. I am extremely grateful.

The idea of a War on Consciousness, via Amarynth, becomes more obvious by the day, practically by the minute. The chief principle behind it is evidenced by promoting utter frustration which blocks everything good and right, unless you can see it for what it is, then, still, seeing it, knowing it, it can often become even more debilitating. There is a miraculous saving grace in our creativity. I remind every one of you, this is ours forever, an impenetrable fortress of refuge.

adding this poem as it seems to cross mojanate with this new post.

All I see are fools
piling higher gold and grain
getting drunk and eating creatures
imagining they're well-to-do
unaware of hell's abyss
seeking only Heaven's bliss
but with karma like Vipula
how can they escape disaster
suddenly the rich man dies
people crowd around in tears
then they hire some monks to chant
though such ghostly pay is void
and provides no future blessings
why support the hairless bunch
better to wake up in time
don't create a hell of darkness
be a tree that fears no wind
steadfast and unmoved by fate
tell the blockheads you might meet
read this over once or twice

It occurred to me earlier today that much of what we are seeing rife among the urban followings is the Peter Principle come to life. Did a quick search to source a link and not surprisingly, a huge vast body of western critics thinks so too.

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Nina,

Once more I am behind on some web sites. Just found your new post and I am able to identify well with it.

Despite the hoo ra about abiotic oil, there is some real problems with the concept. Yes, it sure appears that oil will become prohibitively expensive, we will never burn it all.

The over population idea is hotly contested. That overpopulation depends to some degree on how you see the general standard of living world wide. I suppose that if the standard of living was low enough, 7 billion could survive. When oil becomes scarce because of pricing, I anticipate population reduction. Most of the food supply depends on hydrocarbon extraction. Limit that and food becomes a real issue. Too few folks have any idea how to grow food without the hydrocarbons.

Some days I find it difficult to not despair over the situation on this planet. I think we have long passed the problem solving stage and are now in a predicament with no solution. The philosophies and religions of the world will take a back seat to simple survival very soon. Oh yes, I expect small groups banding together and trying to tough it out. There are just some situation that can not be out waited and situations where there is no situations, for everyone. Radiation from Japan is one of those no solutions. A sufficiently poisoned environment is another.

As a civilization it sure appears to me that we are severely disconnected from reality. No use begging for mercy. We have spent 5000 years using up mercy. Reality just flat out doesn't care. Now is the time for humanity to pay the price for its excesses.

murph said...

I need to spend more time editing. Sorry for the ambiguous 4th paragraph.

freeacre said...

I share the fears of the Cap't.

It is very easy to become detached, and seek the Supreme, as this is no place for a gentle wo/man."

The Earth has experimented over and over with differing species. So many have not made the cut. As the cycles continue their inexorable progression, we find ourselves living in the period of the fallen and failure, no matter what we resistors do. And, as a species, if we create a disaster that ruins life as we know it for thousands of years, then we will simply reap what we have sown. The Great Mother is quite up to the task of retiring species that are unworthy or unable to live sustainably.

But, as individuals, as individualized expressions of the vast and Holy One, we have a choice of how to live out our days. I honor my incarnation, and will fight to protect those that I love, as any mother animal would do. But, I will not kill or hurt or maim anyone for some bullshit point. I would not use a drone. On anybody. I would not have stuck a poker up Gadaffi's butt. We are immersed in the pornography of political violence and pathological denial of any system other than "growth." The capitalist and materialist world demands growth. Whether it is money or population, or resources, it always needs more.

We are all going to die one day, no matter what. So,we may as well live lives based on a sense of "enough", and cultivate compassion. Maybe in our next incarnation, we'll take some lessons with us.

nina said...

Murph, its ok, I read your post perfectly and only after you mentioned it saw the typos, ex. situations was read as solutions. Its just your mind going faster than your fingers.

Sharing your despair, it can be overwhelming unless we stand back and see our angst as destructive to what remains of our time here.

The despair will come back as more and more see truth of the situation, I wonder if its not our role now to help them alleviate it, because I know we can do that much. Its sort of a default position since we got there early.

I always knew it would come to this. However, the overwhelming masses in denial actually gave us cause to think it might work out somehow? That stage lasts until you come up against the circular arguments over and over and finally face it in its totality as impossible, despairing. That is the time for your full-on compassion, a healer of yourself, a healer even in the smallest exchanges, local, one on one.
We know it cannot get better, that much is more than clear, but we can be better people and help others out of despair. The big secret isn't going to remain secret forever, it will come out exactly as this new recession is emerging into back-handed acknowledgement, crude and fuzzy and then suddenly another plateau.
I agree with freeacre, we're all going to die someday ... . I really wanted us to be able to go out with a more idyllic finale, leave a history, having found and given purpose to our having been here, which is not likely considering the scenarios you listed. I don't believe the mission is finished yet, plenty more is going to unfold and we have to be in shape to deal with it all with our very best effort. Our loved ones are going to need us more than ever. It is our duty to be there intact for them and for others.

Setting up a new living arrangement, getting familiar with the acequia irrigation routine, tending the magnificent garden and animals, slowly unboxing both mundane and precious articles for livity, I just placed up my old 70s poster of Green Tara thanka. Immediately I received an email from an old friend who uses the avatar 'green tara'. Then I came across an interview with Lash describing the esoteric iconography of Wrathful Green Tara today. He goes into a lot of background, including the pre-buddhist history from the end of the last ice age, where high yogis in the Himalayas saw Her as the embodiment of the new greening of the foothills as the ice began to melt. He describes the memory preserved in the Bon culture of this and rants intensely, shreds actually, present Tibetan buddhism. I love it because I have a pretty good idea of what that Bon culture was about from study over the years and recent information from Peter Kingsley.
Part of what he was saying:

"The Wrathful Green Tara is angry because we've denied the true source of magic, in the divine feminine.
The divine Sophia (Gaia), the living intelligence of this planet, the divinity that supports every breath you breathe, and that infuses your Self with light, She Herself is angry. Tara and Kali are the anger of Sophia. She is angry because we have forgotten that She is our nurturer, and our nourishment, and our origin. She is not only our natural nourisher - we live by the plants and oxygen and substances produced by photosynthesis. She is also angry because we don't recognize that She gave us the psychoactive plants to cure our insanity. The great psychoactive plants that Gaia gave to us; because She knew that the only thing that would bring us back to sanity most reliably would be the ingestion of these gifts of the green world. We've turned our back on that, and She is very very angry. We have to respect Her wrath, that we have turned away from Her graciousness and Her benevolence, and we have to have a real longing in our hearts to turn back to Her, to integrate back into Her beauty and Her wisdom."

He goes on to say that we have to perceive Her moods, respect Her moods, and share and accept Her moods, and not turn away in fear as we ourselves feel them arising within us.
Lash was saying that one meaning of the word 'wrath' is being actually in a state of panic, which comes from the supernatural powers, and where you make a sudden brutal, radical choice. The choice is involving simplicity, innocence, nurturance (self and others), and the heartful longing exclusively, over participating in insanity. I guess those would be your basic attributes of the Love Tribe.

Splendid input lately from all the folks here, giving thanks and praises all around, and onelove

Nina,

I agree with your assessment of that essay. Resistance against the odds often appears hopeless. In defense of it, notice that our troops with all their technology have not been able to suppress Afghanistan and they have a smaller population than the US and some less land area.

Besides, what is the alternative? Become a slave under worse conditions than we already have? In my own case, there is just some shit I will not eat, no matter what.

I think each individual has to decide at what point maintaining life becomes unsupportable. I think you realize that I do not subscribe to a pacifist sentiment. I cannot feature myself bending my neck much more than it already is. There are some kinds of atrocities that must be stood up to and named for what they are and resisted in the name of integrity. To me, there is a kind of hypocrisy in just verbal condemnation and then bending to the evil contained. Unfortunately, we do it every day. And yet, there is a point where we have to say enough, the line in the sand kind of thing.

If our situation continues to deteriorate, it will be interesting to me to see where people draw that line. Desperation brings out some interesting behavior.

What excellent comments!

It is a good thing methinks to be ready to disconnect from the mortal space. Once one can do this fully, and be at peace with it, things like (dare I say it), the burden of karma falls by the wayside and perspectives change to those of a Dharmic life. There, in that space there is no shit!

Doing that thing, that disconnecting thing, getting that peace with issues of mortality, leaving that behind .. opens space for another vibe completely. One is at once at-one and somehow that is a lasting space. The moment one is prepared to die, life becomes more precious in many more aspects. It is then possible to love the precious pieces and see the rest for what it is.

I never subscribed to the 'prison planet' idea, but just lately that idea seems to have more merit in my thinking. Uhm, hell no! What am I saying. This planet of ours may be used as a prison currently, but it is not a prison planet. It is a garden of eden, if we can stand individually and together to re-create that in consciousness.

This Back to Eden film is a little 'christian' for most of us, but the truths still resonate and the principles of husbandry of the earth are solid.

http://backtoedenfilm.com/about/index.html

I'm picking the cornucopia of earth treasures - strawberries, crispy sweet green beans, tomatoes, summer squash, all kinds of herbs, the last of the peas, heat hardy lettuce of various kinds and very very soon, within days, the first grapes. It is at this time of the year that I just itch to put up more growboxes because the harvest from the planet Eden, is gorgeous. There are fewer bees this year. I think they killed the bees while spraying for mozzies. So, a beehive is now on the list. Even though things seem dark, this list of mine still has life .. beehive .. silkworms if the cloned trees grow well and I have food for them .. more red wrigglers for compost .. 4 chickens and so it goes on!

The wheel turns and all you can do is make changes in your own life and lead by example. Everything else will take care of its self

With Spiritual development fear and worry disappear. We are where we are by divine appointment (because life knows what it is doing without our help) and the more we can dwell in that knowing the more peace we experience.
The true self, transformed in the process of self-realization, can freely name things as they are and reflect each thing’s spiritual rhythm.

Received this little ditty from Poet David Budbill and thought I would share it with you all as i
t pertains to what's be said here.

Seventy-Two is Not Thirty-Five

I spent seven hours yesterday at my daughter's house

helping her expand their garden by at least ten times.

We dug up sod by the shovelful, shook off the dirt as

best we could; sod into the wheelbarrow and off to the

pile at the edge of the yard. Then all that over and over

again. Five hours total work-time, with time out for lunch

and supper. By the time I got home I knew all too well

that seventy-two is not thirty-five; I could barely move.

I got to quit earlier than Nadine. She told me I'd done

enough and that I should go get a beer and lie down on

the chaise lounge and cheer her on, which is what I did.

All this made me remember my father forty years ago

helping me with my garden. My father's dead now, and

has been dead for many years, which is how I'll be one

of these days too. And then Nadine will help her child,

who is not yet here, with her garden. Old Nadine, aching

and sore, will be in my empty shoes, cheering on her own.

So it goes. The wheel turns, generation after generation,

around and around. We ride for a little while, get off and

somebody else gets on. Over and over, again and again.

As your hostess, I'm briefly passing around a tray of recommended offerings prepared especially for this latest plateau which indicate we are definitely not alone in our observations. If you are reading the blogs on my bloglist, as you should be, these are from A: Arthur Silber, and B: ArchDruid, John Greer.

Reflections on a Bestial Culture, Ready and Eager for Slaughter (1) ...Because this is the story the government wants to tell, we may properly regard it as being in the nature of a trial balloon. The U.S. government is saying to all of us, and to the entire world ...

Oh and do please have another!

Collapse now and avoid the rush ...while it’s fashionable these days to imagine that this process will take the form of a sudden cataclysm that will obliterate today’s world overnight, all the testimony of history and a great many lines of evidence from other sources suggests that this is the least likely outcome of our predicament. Across a wide range of geographical scales and technological levels, civilizations take an average of one to three centuries to complete the process of decline and fall, and there is no valid reason to assume that ours will be any exception. The curve of decline, to be sure, is anything but smooth; it has a fractal structure, taking the form of a succession of crises on many different scales, affecting different regions, social classes, and communities in different ways, interspersed with periods of stabilization and even partial recovery that are equally variable in scale, duration, and relevance to different places and groups. This ragged arc of decline is already under way; it can be expected to accelerate in the months, years, and decades to come; and it defines the deindustrial age ahead of us. ...

I doubt many people have any genuine idea of exactly how they would react in crisis until such crises is upon them. This would be due to our self-concept, i.e.; that representative self, projecting about behaviors that align with the self-concept.

Oh, I would do this, but I would never do that. That's just not me.

It is my experience when crisis arrives, self-concept vanishes while immediate action takes center stage. That is why preparation is key, we have to know ourselves and take for granted when crisis comes, you can only count on yourself and your own tools for survival, we don't really know how others are going to react until the moment of truth arrives when all character is suddenly revealed.

Also, your point about Afghanistan is well taken. I've thought about that all along and often discard it with every new conflict as seeing none of them are really allowed to be left alone for God's sake.

i am clif. i was born to the High and the Vallier clans. The High clan traces itself back to the 'walker people', and the Vallier clan goes back to the 'sea tribes' who were ancient people when the pharohic dominion was but newly hatched in Egypt.

i am clif. i live in the country of the salish peoples. In this country is Raven, spirit of the corvadae (crow) beings. There came a day, decades past, when Raven bonded his ki with mine, and thereafter i am also of the Raven beings.

i am clif. i live, the blood flows, and the breath moves at the will of the lungs.

i am clif. i am not slave to any being.

Those who declare themselves my enemy are large in their minds, and think they understand the world. They know not the taste of their own ki revealed in suffering, so how could they know the flavor of the universe of complexity? And yet they would claim to rule...

i am clif. Raven's gift came in a ki exchange. Raven (and all corvadae) took some of mine, and left me some of theirs.

It was a fair exchange. We share much, Raven and i, including enemies.

Those who declare themselves our enemy, knowing themselves not, are a burden upon the peoples and beings of this earth. It is their time to go.

Raven teaches the proper way to battle here on earth. First is self knowledge and the study of appropriate context; that has been achieved. Then is consultation with universe and the reading of the signs for meaning (semiotics). This too has been completed.

Lastly, before battle, we dance away our enemies' spirit. Though they are powerful in the world of men, those declaring themselves to be enemies of Raven Water Tribe, they are few, and weak outside of their longhouses.

We of the Raven Water Tribe are so many upon the planet that we may not be numbered...and thus are free beings, soverign unto ourselves. The eyes of corvadae are across all of earth, and send their vision to Raven. No place e may our enemies seek rest that crows will not see. No plans may be made that crows will not hear. No secrets are kept from Raven, who is Trickster/Hero, and walked with Changer in the sometimes time which has now returned.

We are crow.

We are Raven Water Tribe.

We dance away our enemies' spirit.

Their days are now few.

Come, join our dance...

Hello Nina.....just sharing some thoughts in the face of our passing...from the zen Gardner....Every sentient being that is born into this world unfolds from an all embracing source as a temporary point of apparently isolated awareness… or light. In the beginning, eternal memories are wiped clean, but are never forgotten… they are simply filed away, or if you prefer, stored in the Akashic library or on the cosmic hard drive. The ultimate quest is to harvest a new range of experiences from newly separated points of view… but as Bill Hicks rightly observed and then pointed out… life is just a ride… call it a lucid dream… a movie of epic proportions or liken it to a re-run of fly-on-the-wall dramas, in every way shape and form, a supremely intelligent awareness is observing these events play out, furthermore, this intelligence participates in key decision moments to co-create reality in real time whilst the better part of itself remains asleep and hidden from view. The truth is… we co-create everything – there is nothing we cannot and have not created.

Nina, it is so that Clif High's writings and works sometimes (most times) provoke controversy which is sometimes very polarizing. I loved that piece but did not want to post it as I did not know if people here would accept it. Now I know.

It is our base nature to think ahead, helpful when cavemen stalked prey, but ultimately self-defeating when taking for granted the thinking of others.

So deeply ingrained in the human psyche, we have to remind ourselves over and over and still over again not to go there. And no matter how many times we relearn the same lesson, it has to be learned again.

More Lao-tzu

"A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves."

"Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you."

"At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want."

"By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond the winning."

"He who conquers others is strong; He who conquers himself is mighty."

Nina,
I certainly don't know the outcome of Humanities fate, I belive the divine will sort that out individually. After I left your blog. went back to reading a book with a passing mention of heraclitus. I did a google search on him and discovered this site thebigview.com and then from the forum of that site someone linked this one http://deoxy.org/omega.htm
Two incredible sites which I have been devoting much time to reading, the second site link has a counter of the current population of the planet in real time. Anyway the sites both provide a wealth of information, for the seeker. And it was an interesting sync of sorts. My concern about the population is the Children being born unwanted and unplanned, far out number those that are. It's a dsiheartening reality, and only educating people about the responsibily of parenting will make any real difference in that respect.

That sums it up pretty well. The most amazing thing to me is the number of people who strive to believe that everything is normal and AOK.

"People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes. All is a miracle."

"Life can be found only in the present moment. The past is gone, the future is not yet here, and if we do not go back to ourselves in the present moment, we cannot be in touch with life."

"Life is available only in the present moment."

You know I agree with you completely Alan.
I met some sweet kids out here in the desert, one I noticed wearing the same shirt every day for a month, I gave him another. His little sister asked me if I had some food. She said she had not eaten in two days. She said it happens often. Her parents told me she made that up.

And she made up her skin and bones appearance too?

"Life is available only in the present moment."

This is why we must always take responsibility for our actions, we cannot go back to repair a moment when we behaved selfishly. That moment we were not at our best lives on in the present of someone who felt neglected.

Yes Dubs. Its also amazing that boomers are blamed for so much while a huge new population raised practically under a microscope, has come into being, easily greater in number than boomers.

And this too is just okay.

Thank you for speaking up William. I look forward to your next post.
Don't be a stranger. I appreciate your writing.

Perhaps it is a part of the life experience to find oneself simply unable to solve the dilemma. I quote Dublin Mick, a frequent commenter and friend: This is a very low consciousness planet.
