sex and money from fairy tales

In sheer boredom I visited the news headlines pages today. My, my, one could go right down the list and wisecrack all the way, one after another, the men on goofballs speaking through their press secretaries who send out fat yellow ochre packets of fairy tales to their journalists on the to-do list who are, of course, honored and preening to be included even though they got on the to-do list through perhaps unsavory solicitations? Ah, but what do we know, we're just the little people waiting for the next shoe to drop. A thousand flying shoes could not begin to describe how the little people feel about being seen as fat and stupid, sickly and too expensive to maintain on even the most meager levels. Git outta the way! You owe your very breath to us, how dare you question our beneficence. We'll show you! And they do, with every word, every proposal, every off-topic debate that ends in another crazy bill with executive signatures sending them into reality to become law of the land when necessary as the foundations continue to be laid over previous foundations now buried, dozed and supposed to be forgotten. Maybe if it wasn't strong enough to hold up in these times, it should be forgotten. Maybe if the laws were designed to protect one class over another prepared and presented by that designing class, maybe its time to get the hell out of Dodge. You are on your own, you know, which is precisely the point, like those trashed UK children, thrown out like so many needy mouths.

Back to the morning news cruise, take for example the headline concerning the grand RI bishop of something insisting he didn't say what he said, he said it was suggested a Kennedy not be administered the blood and body in a cup because of the, as you may recall, generally suggested to be somewhat unhinged, on occasion, Kennedy's stand on abortion rights? THESE people, you know exactly who I mean, are they people, in THOSE outfits, with their disturbing reputations really ought to be keeping a lower profile, wouldn't you think? Strange how the list of headlines chooses to highlight certain press releases over others. Heh, we know its more than strange now, don't we. Everything has a reason, turn, turn, turn... speaking of seasons, I am appalled about the climate email hacking, you should be too. How naughty! Do they honestly think any doomers will fall for this one? Here's the thing that is amusing, yes, they do think you will fall for it and many of you are or they would not have gone to the trouble of blaring this news. First you want to say how could this be? To tell you the truth, first we should be questioning hackers. Not just these hackers come-lately, but all the hackers from time immemorial. Please, no teen geeks in basements, these people are ubiquitous. One could get the idea that when a devastating truth that would rock the boats of the little people gets too far along into the streams of acceptance, the hackers are released, set free like a pack of jackals to twist around the heads of the plasma-facing-the-lazyboy set. Are we now supposed to think there is no such thing as desertification? Hard pan? Sea level rise? SMOG? And the Amazon Rain forest is just a playland for frogs, that Iquitos has regrown its rubber and the Wilkins ice bridge did not break? I am exhausted talking about it, we're on our own here, all of us who read headline news this way. We have no support and that is fine, the lame justifications and corrections are always more of the same drama rooted in I am right and You are wrong. It is obvious this planet has too many humans, dogs and cats, in the circumstances under which we currently live. It is obvious it has never been managed properly since before Socrates penned for Plato. How do we know Earth could not have managed to support seven billion and growing by starting out from the side of truth? Instead of always presenting something to be other than what it is, it might well be possible, even in our present, to live without all this weirdness, pain, elbowing for room, yelling above the crowds for recognition, destroying others so that the special ones survive. Then along came the Whites. Mister and Missus White and their special little lord Whites and White-esses in bow ties and clown collars separating themselves from the teeming masses nobody wanted to manage since they were too busy thinking how to present their separation as something other than what it was. The prizes and the favors went only to those who saw things their way. How has this changed at all? What grand strides of human development in civilization have taken place since then?

You can give them truth and they laugh at you. You can give the teeming masses real spirituality and they imitate it because it looks cool, an identity, like a wash-off tattoo, until the next zeitgeist wave rolls in and washes them back out, mingling in kelp, strands of brown bubbles to pop on rocks in their endless boredom to be somebody, to say something meaningful, to experience something, anything other than not being able to get the vaccine or having the beater smogged three times and failing each.

Our monarchs stumble over themselves, screaming plague, screaming deficit, screeching terror, its just so much background noise now, sound and fury signifying nothing. Test, don't test, you can see where this is going if you are paying attention, its going to Palin and Beck people, mark my words. The joke of all this is that it would be so much simpler to be real, speak honestly and do no harm, but that's not how this palace and its outlying G-palaces are run and never have been and never will be. Short of anguished blood war, what does one do when they are outnumbered up against a brick wall? Look at the wall and see what its made of, know the enemy and know yourself. You are all alone in this, as cleverly planned, we leave this place as we arrived, with nothing.

Well shit, Nina.

We're just going to have to pretend that we have friends and are supported by compassionate communities. I don't mean tell ourselves that we have friends and compassionate support when we clearly do not. I mean pretend that we are acting in a world where these things would apply while always keeping half and ear open for the inevitable treachery that is coming.

Like having siblings. Which is why I think that women should have 2-4 kids or none. Single children can end up as smug bastids until you learn that they are entirely blind to treachery. Then you stay late after work and edit their working files; or so I've heard.

Like the story "The Man Who Planted Trees" it isn't about whether or not the story is true. It should be true and we should act as if it can be true for our best wishes also. Even if we have to pretend.

Accepting our terrible aloneness and thriving. We Galaxies of strangeness and quarkiness, walking a while in this Eden. Aloofness, arrogance, entitlement and the rest keep us apart. Little Lords with great demands. Royal indeed eh Sis. Claiming Stewardship and playing pickney games with the massive.

Yes Pangolin, the only child thing may be playing out in one of my attempts at partnership. That treachery may be covered by their specialness, I may have to face facts. Time and treasure not to waste now.

As Word Generator says 'ideresti'. Interesting init! This brief and dramatic opportunity.

Nina_Something about the way that was worded rattles my head like a pea in a coconut. I've been thinking a lot about coconuts lately since I heard about little noisemakers they want to put on electric cars to warn pedestrians. Rather than zoom-zoom sounds I thought the coconut sound from Monty Python and the Holy Grail would be perfect. Then the beeb was talking about dying coconut trees in drowning pacific islands. I made coconut milk medicinal fudge but it turned into frosting. Somebody's going to have a very happy birthday.

Typing.

I'm not arrogant; I'm scared shitless that you'll treat me as poorly as my FOI did. As fourth kid of five I was never allowed the time to express doubt about what I needed to say. Ex-wife was an only and she never understood when her birthday ceased to become a national holiday. I was her bad boy who took her around to the peek at the dark side.

Thanks for the tree planter story Pangolin.

I'm also hesitant to give trust having it broken so much. Yes scared shitless too sometimes. Mostly real cautious. Here and a few places/people allow and encourage openess, depth and soulspeak. Some listen, soulfully.

"Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too
Went for a ride in a flying shoe.
"Hooray!"
"What fun!"
"It's time we flew!"
Said Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too

Ickle was captain and Pickle was crew
And Tickle served coffee and mulligan stew
As higher
And higher
And higher they flew,
Ickle Me, Tickle Me, Pickle Me too.

Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too
Over the sun and beyond the blue
"Hold on!"
"Stay in!"
"I hope we do"
Cried Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.

Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too
Never returned to the world he knew,
And nobody
Knows what's
Happened to
Dear Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too."

Campbell Soup profit up 17%; outlook lifted

Buy stock in Campbell, and you'll be OK. Enough doom, enough gloom. Everything's fine. The earth could support 10 time the population it does now, until every square meter has as human being pushing against another. People people everywhere, and not a thing to eat!

Global everything is a scam, not just global warming. You see, the system is overheating from too much activity, and it's going to breakdown soon. I think a gasket or a piston ring will blow. Thomas Friedman, if he would just shut up, would reverse anthropogenic climate change.

Senator Al Franken was at my local pub a while ago, and someone convinced him to do a little stand-up. Here's what he came up with:

Q:"Why didn't they let Hitler drink?"
A: "He was a mean drunk."

Well Chickory, if it was a long self-pitying comment for real, you came to the right place to unburden yourself. Don't mince words now...

Take the talking stick anytime Chickory.

This is a good campsite with a roaring fire and good company.

Sharing our joys will sometimes be followed with pouring out sadness, disappointment and the million concerns.

I expect these exchanges within my families and my tribes.

We're sensible enough to know when pity for oneself becomes a repeating cycle because of lack of focus, stubborness or the other inner urges that rob time and vitality.

Or so one would hope.

F@#%^ing lack of vitality and urges, anyway!

(Z skulks in from the cover of the thick brush to poke at the fire and say "Hey", then scurries off to hide out some more).

I can't do this anymore - the divide between what is presented as "life" and what my internal compass is pointing to cannot be resolved. I'm questioning whether any of this external stuff even exists. Nancy Pelosi has joined the Tooth Fairy as far as I'm concerned. It's all made-up, scripted, and shot somewhere on a soundstage.

So grateful that even though we are all on our own, somehow, we aren't.

Be well, folks.

Thanks for tending the fire Zoner. I fell asleep in my bushes.

Many invitations to be by a warming fire or share a waterhole must come with old memories of the million possibilities. Sabre tooth attack, deception etc. Real connections too.

Here, a virtual reasoning ground. No body language, we show outselves by the words; and longer, the patterns woven over time.

So, do I freight the heavy duty jacks and winches? Is the parachute still where I left it in Ja? The million details. Vessel almost ready to take sail, some details to attend to, papers. Apprehension can be a warning or an irrational scare. Leaving the family fire, joining others and rekindling some old ones. Wonderful. New tribes and old friendships.

In Ja: "Oh Lord, poor me!". A self pity mostly justified. I've seen the habit stretch into the third generation of multi millionairs. In the short experiment in socialism during the 70's, the mantra was: "Bway! I-man a suffa". No condensed (sweet tinned) milk, no salted codfish, flour and corn meal short, all imported. Many take much for granted. In the land of springs and plenty. Yamaye.

You can help yourself by eliminating everything you have not used or worn in the past summer. Gone and forgotten. Give away. Travel light. Winter never comes again where you are going. Doubts keep you from your goal. Of course, everything you left behind when you left the first time was appropriated by someone who needed it. Let's get real here Rasta.
Just carve your way as you go, details and memories are dead weights.

Here's the question, what happens to the Caribbean in sea level rise? And how much sea level rise and when? Ras turey, maybe you should be thinking about the Blue Mountains. The coastal art colony might be a little soggy by the time you'd be settling in for the long haul.

for thanksgiving dinner i was proud to serve the green beans and squash i had frozen from my summer garden. my first ever grew-them-myself sweet potatoes were an early dessert. the chickens got pecan pie, applesauce and greens. the hound got turkey and gravy and a mountain hike. the husband and wife ate on either side of the great divide. i left a way of being but it looks much worse. the future will tell if i chose wisely.

i can see all your faces glowing golden with fire light. nina, thank you for the light. i hope all your days were blessed and filled with laughter. tomorrow we will begin again, our collars turned up against the wind.

'cept for ras turey. sail on in the warm caribbean, friend.

That high road in a broke state could be one in my district in S Ja.

An isolated arid limestone forest with 1,500+ years of human presence. From cool hills through a plain stretching to sea. The trees would be lignum vitae and palms. The fauna; crocs and pet dogs. The iguanas were eaten long ago. Nothing like the Blue Mountains with Fairy Glades and weird temperate type mini forests feeding gurgling streams. Wild hogs still around. Wild folks too.

The fishermen start out early and come back to waiting buyers. The farmers use mulching against the dry and water by hand. Organic is being remembered and still practiced by some of the old ones.*

The ship hasn't set sail yet Chickory but I imagine that sea water cleaning me in the midst of this fast cooling Kanukdom. Hope the space get's bridged. I remember my experiences with such.

Nina,

"What grand strides of human development in civilization have taken place since then?"

Indeed! The more history I look at, especially in some sort of detail, the more the question remains unanswered in most respects.

I suppose from a technology standpoint we are the best in recorded history. Although even that is called into question by archeology finds in last 5 years. We can pretty much assume now that civilization building humans have been around for a lot longer than we thought a mere 10 years ago. Of course if you bow to Bishop Usher, it is only 7000 years the earth and the universe have been in existence.

Science and those practicing it have become toadies for the PTB and set out to prove what they are hired to prove, putting them on about the same footing as journalists. The biggest battle right now seems to be the CO2 question and global climate change. thus keeping everyone who thinks about this stuff sufficiently confused to make action ridiculous.

The PTB indeed has the majority of the world populations sufficiently corralled to be able to do pretty much as they please. The situation just never seems to change.

nina said...

Hi Murph, Heh, it always sounds like something very, very important is being discussed, and it always turns out the same thing comes out of these discussions: somebody wins big and everybody else loses... big. In this way, science too gets its bailout.

So that wing of learned civilization heaves to the politics of the day, as they must, reminiscent of Galileo and Medici funding, but every now and then a glimmer of light leaks through.

You might have already seen that, I wouldn't doubt it at all. It takes a dedicated seeker to put it all together and then, still, explaining it in lay terms is difficult. I know, I've tried and come out badly, not that it matters.

Ah Murph, please see the bottom of my homepage when you get a sec... :)

Yea, Writing on the Wall puts it in context. Here we are sailing in an unbelievable magnificence and concerned about stuffing our mouths, bellies and further south.

In God We Trust and to gold we run. I hope God finds some humour in my/our tiny inspirations. Meantime, I'm off to turn some old into gold.

Then, Gold to Green. Man gotta have a plan. Just to be able to ditch it at a moments notice and head where is right.

The pumpkin pie lover was turey.

nina said...

I know why. I recall pumpkin is a staple food. I painted it. It looks nothing like the greeting card Halloween pumpkins, it has green skin and you get it in the market from the ladies who sell unwrapped sections. At home, you cut it in sections and throw it into a drought, good with orange peel and a cinnamon stick.
You can make pies with it? Maybe so. I hadn't thought of that, but pies can be made of a lot of things. I wish I could make you a gold pie.

nina said...

I'm questioning whether any of this external stuff even exists.

I don't think it does Z. Repeatedly we get pulled in against our better judgement only to come round full circle to remember, oh yes, its the Illusion again. Its like a fictional beast waiting in hiding, aware of you all the time with a perfect weapon designed for any one of your off-moments wherein it can works its evil. It can only be seen in reflection.

Maybe the banksters would eat the gold pie and let us get on with what's needed in fair swap. Did some eat the contents of the alleged gold plated tungsten bars. They seem to be a hungry lot.

Drought? as in wassail? olde punch?

Pumpkin pie will suffice until the gold manifests. We get a luscious variety called kaboka in BC.

The hills in the latest pic seem ready to talk. Sombre, serious, twilighty. Those lonely lights? of supper being prepared in a little village by the sea. Or is it sunrise and breakfast? Lovely.

Up north for the holiday, found two deer that had been killed and eaten by wolves.
Found the tracks of the deer running on the dirt road, the wolf tracks following. Blood spots on the dirt road, from the bleeding deer. The carcass of the mostly eaten deer, but the wolves leave a surprising amount of meat. Later that day, over six bald eagles perched nearby, eying the meat, while ravens and crows gorged themselves.
Went out two days later to show my son. He was fascinated, if a bit scared. Nature, red in tooth and claw.
There are those who stand to profit from the ongoing collapse, much as those crows and ravens did from the deer kill.
What else? I am fairly sure that the EMF from the city is part of what exhausts me about living here. After a few days up there, I had twice the energy and clarity of mind. It's already fading.

nina said...

You have a point there Publius, the rural world was rebirth to me too. Its hard to make loving friends with a city or suburbia, its real easy to have whole, caring relationships with Oaks and wildlife. Right away after we got out here about hmmm 7 - 8 years ago, we had a pet squirrel, Fritz, and his little bro One-eye. I loved them like I love my family. They ate freely from the fireteacher's palm. No fear. Its like living in a zoo, last night he wanted to show our city visitor something good about living here, maybe the expanse of stars or moon, and opened the front door to the ELK herd. Timely, huh?
