Bob Dylan, Desolation Row
This week has not been your typical turbulent week, rather it is a week of disturbing revelations where we've been forced to acknowledge there will be no new story of a better world quite as quickly as it seemed during last week's typical turbulence. Why is this you might ask?
As far as I can tell we remain duped and divided. Are you aware of the inane categorization taking place among seemingly truth friendly luminaries? Even the highest echelons of reality philosophy appear to suffer from this dis-ease of categorization - which is just another word for denial. I won't repeat all of the dialogues here, they are illogical. You'd almost miss it if you concentrate solely on the marvelous literary qualities arranging facts, you could be encouraged to go along by the brilliance of metaphor and poetic genius, line after line with words you have to look up to absorb the entire radiance of such cohesive content. Until, one day, you see a sentence or two that wipes the whole charade off the face of the map.
... believers in some sort of apocalypse, etc., all rejected. So disappointing. People who can't understand the science and can't observe for themselves shouldn't waste their time here...There are a more than a few similar culls going around lately, it is the season of the witch after all. You'd better watch it out there, my friends, they don't like us, they don't think like us, they strongly reject us in fact, and they have esurient agendae among their fraternity that becomes obvious when you finally recognize what it is you are seeing. Dare you challenge them unless you want to hear somebody tell you your presence is ignorant and alarmist. Now, its okay to have an agenda. We'll call an agenda a point of view in the altruism of sharing information. However, in the search for factual and authentic information on the websites in discussion, you could easily ignore the profit agenda while enjoying the scenery. Only when you reread that confusing sentence or two do the alarms go off. Who are they trying to impress? Potential and existing clientele, ah, the smart blog as a sales tool, toned down so you won't notice those hands rifling through your pockets?
A satisfactory portion of what is served by these fraternal heroes of the liquid crystal display is actually nutritious. Maybe this is a commonality shared among many venues, in any anonymous interaction, like a thoughtfully prepared prix fixe meal in an urbane organic restaurant with aspartame powder visible on the dessert? You got something good, but you noticed they really didn't go all the way. You wondered why, if the time was taken to do one part of it properly, what happened at the finish line?
Afterwards, leaving the scene, you'll realize we've got a long way to go. That realization brings on multiple questions concerning denial and hypocrisy. You know you are for real, we have long abandoned our representative selves by now, so you wonder why these others who appeared to be on the same journey suddenly slam on the brakes. This can only be they have not suffered enough yet, especially tragic when they write so skillfully about suffering ... chaos, nature, politics and the dollar. They are not stupid people, they know what they do, they have compromised at our expense. How quickly would they open their minds if you bought their books?
Certainly it explains why we as a civilization remain fubar. No one wants to step forth, even while calling for transparency, they deny the root issues that keep us enslaved inside The Trap. Perhaps the trap is designed with cubbies just for these people's preaching? Oh, it helps pass the time, keeps you pretty occupied, you could even become a Groupie of the Cubby if you were so inclined, but you are not. We're still at the doorway looking out discerning between a hustle and the truth. ''Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive''. You think they have any idea they are deceptive? No, nor is there any thought given to tangled webs.
There is so little left to believe, its more direct to just quit believing and go by your own golden rule of intuition. Spirituality is the key, a void of spirit tells us all we ought to know. You do not have to be a disciple of any religion, you do not have to be anything other than true to yourself. All answers spring from the Creator within. You have to listen with undivided attention to understand. The real work is in the application.
Until we as a united body of humanity relentlessly apply the test of spiritual intuition a.k.a. humilty, compassion, grace, we will struggle indefinitely. At some point, sooner rather than later, rising sea levels will intervene and our immediate struggle will change dramatically. Denial decoupled from self-interest reveals the futility of any motive other than the motive of sheer physical survival. The information is there, hand in hand with the denigration of the information. Denigration is rooted in fear of loss for one's station in life, self-righteous selfishness, material protectiveness, desire for flattery and greater economic achievement. We've seen it over and over and we see through it.
The little people are very accepting. They would never think to suspect motive before jumping in with both feet, heart and mind. How much of the civilized world operates on that principle? I'm thinking easily 95% of humanity does this without hesitation and no matter how much evil reigns down upon the populations, most people always will. The remaining 5% are simply careless. They will come to find their compromises adrift, while desperately clinging to a capsized hull, in a dry hurricane that breached the glittering coastlines with no warning. Salvation wouldn't be available since similar emergencies will be unfolding simultaneously, past peak, in the coming diaspora, the fraternity, the conceits and the compromises worthless on the ocean's floor.

Repost, I didn't like my first one.
As "stress levels" increase, how will the fault lines of our communities, real and virtual, split? Will the divides open up and become too great to cross?
Is fear a greater force than love? Does our society have the resilience that comes from faith, community, and resolve?
Do we remember what the point of life even is?
Word verification: suckifi
(wow... no joke. "suck-ify" is exactly what's happening out there!
No joke too Publius, I got: 'lights'.
These would be those networked in the Each One Teach One Universe/city. In the midst of experiencing relative self sufficiency, any drop of insiration/encouragement is fuel.
Any light shone my way is gratefuly recieved, dear Lights.
Walk Good, turey.
In's Iration, Inspiration.
Suck - ify, heh, you got that right. Suck and iffy or simply suckified.
We are seeing the stress/tension cracking right now. The chasm is in full view. We can't say we were not warned, history is jammed with turncoats. And I can't say in all honesty the divide was actually crossed, we just veered off from there into this. The past repeats.
Love is the greater force, but that depends on one's definition of love. Fear can rule for only a short time before love returns to claim its rightful crown.
You asked about family today on your blog, that was a good example of love ruling over fear. People must wander, but later come back to the root unit needing unconditional love and friendship. The root unit can be anywhere you are allowed to be yourself without some sort of compromise.
Resilience is a learned skill, we must become even stronger and tirelessly resolute.
I still like Ran's take best on the point of life, which is to learn and have fun.
Thanks for stating your interesting observations. It reminds me of the Black Panthers struggle which was neutralized with the introduction of heroin into the community.
Is this time really different?
nina: Where did all this come from? In my current state this is way too much to try and process now. Will have to return to it later. I do agree “the real work is in the application” but in order to do that one first must learn to first learn to TOTALLY trust your intuition. Not easy to do especially in trying to avoid the self fulfilling prophecy thing. How many of us have gone against our intuition because of this only to have things turn out just how we knew they would?
Publius: impressive short list of very hard questions to ponder. Interesting enough, fear is the common denominator that prevents many of true answers from being arrived at, let alone implementing a course of action. Fear is also the arch-enemy of love and is what prevents true love from being able to be experienced as it is supposed to be.
How easily the answers come, once we learn how to ask the question.
Hey Nina. Been a while.
Intuition ... it's the word of the year, it seems. On everyone's lips, at least those who've been paying attention and keeping their minds from being wholly slammed shut. Trusting that within ... only possible once you know there is no difference between within and without.
It's funny, these powerful realizations that are blossoming throughout the noosphere: how simple it is in essence - that we are all the same infinite and universal consciousness - and how convoluted the path required to get there, for some at least and I most certainly include myself in that. It seems to come easier to some than others but for most it's damn near impossible; we're like salmon swimming upstream against the current of the culture, and while neither humanity nor the salmon know exactly where they're going or why the salmon at least all know they're swimming.
The conspiracy theories ... they're like a dark night of the soul, a test of one's psychic mettle, a dense thicket of horror that the mind must make its way through before it can hold the light of the new age. Those who seek the light whilst shying away from the darker realities of the material plane, well ... they end up chasing phantasms, don't they? Running off into the swamp after will o'the wisps. As for those who do seek the light, once they draw near it, how can they fail to see the true state of things on this tamas-wrapped globe? From this I conclude that those who claim to be enlightened or awakened but 'don't believe those crazy conspiracy theories', are either fooling themselves as to their spiritual insight into the world or (in the case of the so-called 'teachers') just one more group of hypocritical shills, in essence no different from O'Reilly, Beck, Cooper or Couric.
But it's not so much fun to rail against the misdeeds of this ugly species any more. We can all see quite plainly how they will end, and sense in our bones that those ends are nigh. Their lies affect only themselves, now, and for the rest of us ... those of us who have learned, and are learning, to truly see, the interesting question is: now that we can see, what will we do?
What indeed?
Anything. And as humans one by one make that connection in their minds, their acts will connect within the Mind of which they are a part and Omnihumanity will do Everything.
Soakorfly?
I'm a birdfish
Cool and wet at times
gliding just above the churning sea
Immersed at one with it all at others
Now I float here to feel the waves while I rest my wings
Should I dive
Should I soar above it all
Just a thought

Rick, there are additional synchronicities occurring simultaneously. I don't think I would have written this piece if I had not seen it personally and noted references to these postures elsewhere. Where it came from? These synchronicities are in the airwaves.
Now that you force me to think about it, I am not saying anything Visible hasn't already covered often in exposing the agenda of false prophets, but there are new ones showing up every day. Its not only the clever twists on fundamentals, it is in the closed-minded, heavy handed manner of delivery. Inconsiderate rudeness is never okay, made worse when they're also reaching into your piggybank. They destroy their own respect base and therefore must not have any self-respect.
RW, amazing! Ras turey and I MUST have both instantly channeled the lovely Flying Fish.
John of Survival Acres has a new edition of his newsletter out with a number of links exposing the ignorance of the climate change deniers... if you are a subscriber to his newsletter blog, you'll want to see it today.
The percentages of people who know what is happening has fallen.
What is this anyway, the last chapter of a dusty, evil and badly written story? The sophistication of the agents at work, twisting and rewording truth is, according to the charts, very successful. The trick is to simply deny access to the information backed up with diversions.
while neither humanity nor the salmon know exactly where they're going or why, the salmon at least all know they're swimming.
Psychegram, that's very enlightened. The Salmon know their job within the matrix of the Life Force and just do it. Maybe our job on Earth has a purpose that we refuse to acknowledge? Maybe we were just supposed to be caretakers and that's all...
Glad to see you. Thanks. Missed you. I woke up one morning last week in tears because I dreamed of my father playing his favorite piano song, When You Walk Trough a Storm. We never get over them, do we?
It never really gets easier. We just ... grow accustomed to it....
Yes Sis, I'm a flying fish in water and a playful lion on land.
Life goes on in Beautiful British Columbia. A walk to the supermarket saves me trapping and seeking in the bush.
Organic sauteed tofu without Wild Love in the wilds.
My heaters on now and I think of the flying fish and good work.
Later I, turey.
My dear Rasta, you are fortunate to have seen that part of the world. Have you seen the US?
Driven across and visited US many times.
Truth is I havn't even seen all of Ja. There are so many nooks and crannies.
And I've been driving and walking it for decades.
"You asked about family today on your blog, that was a good example of love ruling over fear. People must wander, but later come back to the root unit needing unconditional love and friendship. The root unit can be anywhere you are allowed to be yourself without some sort of compromise."
Uh, yeah. It sounds nice doesn't it.
For some of us, there is literally no place like home. The blogosphere is literally 'no place' and therefore cannot be home. The physical world demands endless pounds of flesh and recitation of the evil spells of Mammon for your survival. "Love" seems to demand an entry fee before one can get on the board that I don't have.
I can't do it.
Many of us are simply tired of sticking our heads up and getting whacked for the troubles. We're left with endurance. Enduring until what is the question? Hope is thin gruel.
v'word: betrau
I never use the word hope unless I'm feeling sarcastic.
Good insights Pango. So you would then be home-less? And we could define that condition as having no place to be where unconditional love exists? That sounds about right, doesn't it? That everywhere we are, we are doing something to qualify for being there? And therefore, unconditional love is a fantasy as is hope as is belief? Part of the story of life as we've always been told and taught, but it really is just fiction?
Shades of grey are where the truth lies for me. I believe in hope where there is a good chance of a favorable outcome. There are many areas where 'hope' is rewarded in things like weather, gardens, art and culture. In politics 'hope' is frequently used to sell acceptance or resignation.
In love hope is frequently mislaid. Love is built or discovered but hoped-for love is rarely found where sought. Strangely, I believe in unconditional love but I don't believe it is always powerful or even beneficial. The part of me that refuses to quit loving the mother of my kids, my ex-wife; is also the part that makes her various attacks so painful. The wound refuses to close. Likewise with my drunk of a father.
Home then becomes a place where the circle of love is honored above other concerns. A person can feel 'at-home' someplace where there are many demands and conditions expected of them but where the ultimate understanding is that each person has overriding value above the needs of the moment. I just don't currently have such a place. I'm not sure if I ever had such a place. I hope and believe that others have such places that work for them. Then there is a tiny opening for it to work for me somehow.
Somehow we have to find a way that 'home' means love, respect and sharing for enough people that we can call the planet home. So that we can honor the life and labor of a person without ripping the living skin off GAIA to beat into trinkets. Somebody better have the key to this door before everyone loses their home.
Hope again. Like a lottery ticket; long odds, big dreams.

some people paid 10,000 dollars a head to sit around a fire under a plastic blue tarp, allowing "the secret" charlatan to lead them (from his wireless motivational mic) into prosperity and enlightenment. youd think pulling up to that raggedy set up in the middle of the desert would be an obvious flag to the intuition -but no.
er, i think when the indians made sweat lodges they used animal skins or something? probably not some polyurethaney petroleum leaching death fabric. with an authentic shaman the experience would have been free and arrived at somewhat organically.
the sign of the times. im pretty sure it cannot be cured with

nina, i am back. i did not win the prize. or any prize. i was exiled to gallery siberia and there was no light on the piece at all. somebody entered a beautiful large format real dark room printed photograph of a raven against a black background. the feathers wet with light; a gaze of incredible presence. he didnt win anything either.
In the 80's I got talked into going to an expensive underground comedy club with a group of people I held in high esteem. When the show began, the comedian started getting gross. The spotlight hit various people who were obviously embarrassed, but they kept their seats. The comedian became even more gross and dared people to leave, but they sat still, frozen in fear the spotlight would fall on them and he would say nasty things about them over the mic. I left, amidst his ridicule, spotlight and all, had a long bus ride home too, but I found the next day, everyone else stayed until the club closed. The sweat lodge incident reminds me of that comedy club. If you know you are in a bad scene, why stick around? I don't care what it cost those sweat lodgers, or what Jim Jones was serving, where is the person who says let's get outta here right now?
The sheer stupidity of thinking some authority figure is just going to suddenly take care of you is pitiful. I am sure we all can come up with many more apt metaphors ...
That prize was yours. I will award it to you. They made a Nobel compromise, but we'll fix all that. Ras turey and I would tell you "Don't feel no way."
My mother, 88, died four days ago, and I am in a kind of a daze.
So many memories, she was so good. Never a bad word or an abusive one to me. I didn't deserve it.
I sent this link to Les and he did not publish it, maybe some misunderstanding with WRH but it is very powerful, so I'll try here.

Sometimes I think like that too, Pangolin. Sweet, isn't it? But pure fiction. Its no wonder you don't exactly remember if you ever had such a place. Its the biggest lie going. The lie is so huge and prevalent, we "believe" it roughly half our waking hours, but when we are wearing our unfogged all-seeing sunglasses, just remember, everybody's got to serve somebody. There are no exceptions.
When Publius asked about family, we should really have told him its unconditional until somebody gets the idea they should be doing, thinking something different.
I know I said one thing and am now saying another, but this is the lie of unconditional love at work.
The problem lies in the unlikely definition of the word unconditional and more, the word love. They mean different things to different people in changing situations.
Nothing is certain, nothing is static.
Anonymous 9:41 am, I am not a conduit to anybody. You don't tell us anything about your link, so no one will risk visiting it.
Now then, everybody loses their parents, its natural - as in Nature. If they lived forever, that would be unnatural.
OK. OK. I just feel really battered and burned..... my mother dies, my son has an illegitimate daughter, and so on.... life goes on.... he had asked me for abortion money and I said hell no, I'd disinherit him, and I'm not a Catholic. Im just sick of these sloppy irresponsible people. So now I have two illegitimate grandkids. One of them wants to be a Catholic, it's so fucking weird. Anyways, no frost yet, still harvesting peppers and tomatoes and canning. You have to be like Lao Tzu, ignoring the major things for the minor things. I dont even listen to the news anymore.
Hmmm, Tex? Not reading news? You are in a very good position to dump the old story and go full steam ahead into your new one where the cycle of life is exquisitely beautiful and manifestations of the material world of should and must do not effect you at all. Change the channel, let it go.
You don't have to live in brillo world.
We played smoking mirrors at my mother's grave....cremation..... I was on est. 1000 mikes lsd.... all the Cathlolic thingamabub......Im tired of it.........I have cancer... I gave away all away to it to the poor.... I dont care anymore.... I dont give a good goddamn anymore.
Life is so weird. Go listen to Rosie Lebet. I hate life and I want to die... my son wanted abortion money and I refused it... so now I have a 9yo grandson doing the catechism.... life is too weird....... I dally with the knife daily. Life is too absurd. Its all a weird thing.... only Jerry Garcia on youtube makes any sense.... I just have to get thru the cremation of my mother, and then, what goes, goes.
nina your sweetness to me is greatly appreciated.
to anonymous: be kind to yourself. i am watching my mom prepare to leave the world. as nina said it is a natural part of life....nobody here gets out alive. so be sure to live while you are living.
Im hurt.... thats all i know...
my mother's cremate remains on the shelf.... so many memories...... i just wanna die, i jus wanna cry... they are plenny memories... she was a good woman, excellent, never ever abused me... and now shes dead. She did so many things for me over eighty years, infinite, and now, she is dead. I just cant get over it. Guess Im a mammas boy.
anon:
My dad was a real jerk to most of his children most of the time, and I still miss the old bastard. He died last year.
Because, you know what? He gave me life. Shelter. My some miracle didn't kill us while driving the boat on the lake at midnight drunk... He definitely had a guardian angel, and you know what? Near the end of his life, he did change. He became good, much to my surprise. He was too intelligent for his own good, and too tortured by self-doubt and self-loathing. He could have been a doctor, a poet, a scientist. He became a dentist. The best one around. He read non-stop. He thought too much, especially about himself.
My main point: our parents are part of us, and we of them. It is good and right to mourn. But realize, Anonymous, that by enjoying life and living, you are honoring them. If you give up in despair, you are denying their gift.
May peace and God be with you, and your dear mother.
Love your unexpected grandchildren... they need you more then you or they know.
Thanks for the link to the photo collage comparing the Nazis treatment of the Jews to Israel's treatment of the Palestinians. I think it is a powerful statement, and sure to attract much denunciation due to its truth value. The truth, dontcha know, is way to inconvenient for most organizational levels of humanity.
Unconditional love, whatever that means, is a necessity for the developing ego of the child. It is supposed to make us strong enough, integrated enough, to deal with the "reality principle" later in life.
Hah.
Unconditional love exists: the locus of it may change and dance around. In the final analysis, it must come from within. If you can love and accept yourself, much of this will be reflected back to you by others, as good people will seek you out.
Publius, that sure sounds good, but I've known people that had terrible childhoods totally without any love at all and they grew up to be strong, wise, confident people. I am sure we can all think of a few examples along these lines.
But upon closer inspection, you'll also note unconditional love comes naturally to some and does not exist at all for others. I wonder if it isn't genetic?
I think you have to suffer extensively to activate the gene of loving unconditionally.
I'm not saying Eero should go out now and suffer, I am saying he will have his own road to travel when you are no longer around. Your writings already tell us you and he have the gene. I can see it in Eero's photos.

New post up today, helpful reading would be Chinua Achebe's Everything Falls Apart. My highest recommendation, especially if you have not read it lately. Oh you did, good.
Now what about those of us who have been wounded? It may seem today you are scarred beyond repair or recognition, but that is just for today. As long as you are alive, the dream still twists and turns.
quick post before I go hang out with my friend from a country we've bombed into oblivion, and who has our shrapnel in his leg (sometimes he asks me how he can go on... the death and suffering he's seen. Yet he is usually one of the most positive, least whiny people I know. )
totally un-though-about hypothesis: perhaps going through suffering allows beings to be open to unconditional love, both as a receiver and giver, without being a "sucker" and naive about love and human motivations. At least that's where I hope I've arrived at times. Yet others I know who have gone through difficult childhoods (usually with a cruel, alcoholic father) end up lost in a twisted, paranoid world that they try with all their might to control! The "friend" I recently "got rid of," for example. Today I find a message on my voice mail from him, saying that "I know I'm probably the last person you want to hear from, but... I'm going through a tough time..." His mother is ill, he's depressed, etc. etc.
Why is it that I couldn't "get rid of him" by being clear and even a real jerk? Am I a sucker? That's a rhetorical question. For some reason, I just can't keep the hate going. If someone threatened my wife or child, I would be reptilian fierce and brutal. But when it's not about real physical survival, I just can't seem to keep my end of a feud going.
Ah well... feuds are over-rated, unless you are the Hatfields and McCoys.
