... Here he comes, he's all dressed in black
PR shoes and a big straw hat
He's never early, he's always late
first thing you learn is that you always gotta wait
I'm waiting for my man ...
Lou Reed , lyric from I'm waiting for the man
We who have been so badly burned over and over our skins red and oozing from the lash, and not just us, but everyone all around us in their varying states of suffering, look up and see protestors on tv, on the net, in our hearts, wondering what slimey deceitful tortures await them? That is how we've come to think. We are not really Stockholm Syndromers, appreciative of any pause in the new, upgraded wheel of everything, the operating system under which slaves, wrists leashed to railroad ties overhead, power the wheel 24/7. No, nada, nunca mas, rather we are compassionate, seeking their safety, It IS becoming too big to fail, this is empowering them, every arrest empowers them more, and then when the you-know-whos make the TBTF connection, the real war, not the one that has become totally automatized and roboticized, begins. Those real wars will be the one-sided wars of exposure of the most mundane detail of a human life interpreted to mean something completely different by running it through the press release machines. Wars of ubiquitous commercialism and sponsored entertainment, great amounts of wealth will pass hands. It will be attacked as a rite of passage, the Aborigine child at last becomes a man, because no one can afford to backpack through Europe anymore, and the costs are not always financial.
When Tahrir Square's protests began, bleating pundits directed opinion in the weeks long media blitz, the one thing you knew straight on was how the Overseers viewed it. The violence was roundly "deplored". You knew they wanted to quell that thing a.s.a.p. because it was giving others in other locations in the Zombie Food Court ideas. You know what happened later and how lovely things are over there today. Why in fact, many of us will recall a bizarre photo candidly depicting the war cabinet hovered over questionably functioning laptops.
I am jaded. I see things from the inside out, not outside in. It is natural to ask about anything that appears to be one thing, if perhaps maybe its another? Life is all about learning and this just one of multitudes of ways that we learn. "What if ..." is usually a good way to present the case. It invites sharing the responsibility of a direct response. That particular method of inviting exchange can go to unusual places and you will learn what you needed to know, if you didn't already, at the least you will have confirmed your original observations.
Maybe if ... we had not already put aside false desires such as hope and belief, and lived so hard on the barren plain of the human condition, crushed by repeated falls into the stairwells of life's basement long enough to recognize the pattern and its mocking roots of Wetiko wet nurses and Wetiko religious dogma, maybe we would want to ask who started what and why. Oh, forget the "why." Moreover, forget the "who" also. Who cares? "What" is what we learn, "how" is the core. And running through the heart, pole to pole, is the arrow of evil, the Yang. In the early chapters of Arab Spring, I suggested sovereign leaders were being rotated in a manner more beneficial to Big Mo. I think all of our questions are being answered with each passing event. Especially the part about sovereign which in the language of the World X OS upgrade translates to colonial.
If we apply what we learn to another situation we might say "What if ... what if the design is inextricably in place, all that is left is more bloodletting and the good old highway robbery under the cover of darkness and freight trains, forever underwater at the company store? One of billions wet-faced in the rain racing for shelter, to the tents and migrant motels? What if ... we die and are exploited further in death by past-their-prime degenerates playing their last card last off your back? Addicts never change. They can clean up, briefly, but its always calling. You bet they are hustling again, they are in a pact from the grave. The candidates are competing with the false flags. Every time, throughout all of human existence, when they start up that shuck and jive, it is the sound of hellfire and fury heralding in another notch on the ancient Totem of history. In fact, there was another heated display of cravings just today as the Iran drumbeat drifted across the prairies with the Cartels as back-up chorus. Of course, its not doing well on the charts, its rather worthless until they can use it in conjunction with the Times Square dude and the panties on the plane mule.
What success are we seeking? We are seeking peace of mind and to be left alone to pursue our authentic interests, so many of which are denied for all the wrong reasons regardless of geography. We seek universal love and compassion, genuine peace on Earth and recognition of every living thing on the Living Planet as family. These few things are not universally sought, you know that much by now no matter what station you may be waiting in during this journey, but be comforted - you are not alone.

You know Nina.... In the last 48+ hours when I've been spending almost all of my time at our local Occupation I've had a specific lesson drummed into me again and again.
Compassion is more powerful than conflict.
I have talked to police officers, reporters, masons, drunks, crazies, college students, college graduates, janitors, programmers, housewives, nurses, teachers and you name its. My throat aches.
When you look at a person with true compassion and ask them what kind of world they want and listen for a few minutes you get this amazing response. People give; freely and generously. We are buried under gifts of pizza, coffee, pastries and donuts. Little old ladies walk up and hand us crumpled wads of dollar bills saying "those banks are bastards" and walking off.
The Wetikos screwed up this time and tossed some beat cops, nurses and firemen under the bus too early in the assumption that they have an iron grip. Bad move. The beat cops do not like one bit what they are being told to do and are pushing back. Most are objecting to the orders they're being given even when they follow them.
Our local cops are all smiles and co-operation. Not a bad word from one of them. Going out of their way to let us slide where we are clearly breaking local codes. For now. Clearly, letting us ignore municipal laws for an extended period gives the city council pains.
For now we're winning. In the next few months we will be rained out, snowed out, worn out, pushed out and sold out. I honestly think the harsher the winter the stronger we're coming back in the sprain.

but its too hard,it hurts,
surely this cant be right

have a poem nina,
and beautiful post,it sort of waggles those heart strings in a different way.
wrote a poem yesterday on origami, not the horrible one,it was the second to last one,for some reason had you in my mind whilst I was writing it.....
one love...neil
Pangolin, I would love to join you. The problem as I see it is they are only allowing enough to cover their earlier excuses for intervention. It may be that mass gatherings are all that can be done, but what happens when it is not an amusement anymore?
Not a single person you mention has the power to effect real change and at the same time Pangolin, what else can one do? Think of it as engagement of lifelong criminals by the victims. Mice for the cougar. And how juicy the kill for the state coffers. They want you to participate.
At the same time, you have my highest respect. No one is to say it can't work, because it could, if the protested were honorable people too. But we have already experienced the depth of their honor...
However, your comment is more optimistic than usual and maybe after all is said and done, that alone is the bright side.
Excellent work neil. I will check out your contribution on Origami in a few minutes. It is always inspiring to see you expand your creativity.

Looks like Baldhead is in the spotlight. What's he gonna say? Run outa truth. The 99% well smart to the game now.
Bob dem mus a smile.
Glad all's well Su. Sun out again. Tried to puff a rain cloud your way, the rain gods advised patience and dry land farming.
Respect Pangolin.
Ites, turey.
I don't know you well enough to call you Nina, but this small insignificant note is just to let you know that you should write more.
I DO enjoy reading what you write and the use of the word Wetikos sent me scurrying to wikipidia for the definition. I had never heard of the word before.
I look forward to your next post.
Just a simple thank you-BenG
I'm encouraged to hear the scuttlebutt from one of the Occupations. Thanks, Pangolin. I think I'll go and join the one in Bend on Friday. During the anti-draft and war protests during the 70's, we were supported in much the same way by little old ladies with coffee and sandwiches and cookies. They were old socialists and Quakers from the 30's. So, now I am an old lady .... Guess I better bring some food on Friday. Ha!
pangolin and feeacre you are heroes and heroines....thankyou
one love.... neil
The local occupation has growing support during the day but nights are hampered by bums, as vs. homeless, hanging around and scrounging cookies and coffee from the camp kitchen.
The local weekly attended a general meeting I had facilitated on Tuesday and decided to misrepresent the usual idiot that shouts over everybody and the guy who show up demanding you adopt his agenda as the norm. This is why newspapers are dying in the U.S.
Four A.M. frisbee toss was held in the middle of vacant Broadway.
I have very few fears about police action locally. I'm more concerned about being dismissed because we feed skeevy moochers who are then assumed to be part of the group.
Many, many, many sad stories related from passers-by.

Thank you, BenG. Benji? Very kind of you to speak up.
Very interesting: Push and Shove Dancing in the Public Square
He feels a lot like I do. In fact, tonight I'm casting the Net of Light over protestors everywhere.
Nice link Terrance, but do you think ANYbody fell for it? I mean, we've hard that song before, and before, and before ...
You are so right Nina....people are really catching on and somethings got to give......no one wants the new boss cause he is just like the old boss!.....profit over the considerations of people is a shameful practice.....
Our death teaches us that nothing belongs to us, and of what you take, you must share!
On a side note...so much love and sharing at the Further concert...the music was incredible and the counter culture is alive and dysfunctional .....there is hope for humanity!
one love
We're seeing similar things Terrance, it is heartening to think maybe, just maybe, something good will come.
There are signs the opposition has developed cracks. Even aside from touring the web, its out there, in the air.

If support today is any indication of the national mood tomorrow should see a national surge like nothing seen since the gulf war.
Wall Street is in serious trouble. Particularly since it was just announced that CEO pay in the top U.S. companies went up 23% in the last year.
Logic says the weekend presence must be greater than weekdays because while all these people are 99%, those who can, are still doing the 9 to 5 or whatever. Imminent survival means paying somebody. Ah, jeeze, interest is out of control, and service fees and fees for not paying online.
(The EPA can always say they have a long term program for saving the forests, but the time to stop all that nonsense is now. That includes the candidates with their twisted platforms.)

To be clear. Baldhead is a heart thing. Not a hair one.
Rain. At my bredrins yard. Folowing OWS.
Watch for provocateurs Pangolin and all.

Rome turned into violent riots with Darth Vaders making arrests while we were sleeping on this side of the Earth last night.
Watch out for drunks too.
Wall Street Protests Spread Globally as Rome Turns Violent
i too am casting a net of love for protestors everywhere.
and for the green resistance to imperial takeover in libya.
take that away from the death cult and the other dominoes will quickly fall.
courage, peace and love to all.
The violence in Rome was not spontaneous. The hooligans, clearly manipulated, came with violence in mind and disrupted an otherwise peaceful march. Tomorrow they will raise hell at a football match somewhere. At home they probably slap their wives and girlfriends around.
John, the MSmedia is not touching protests this morning, as if they do not exist, its only BAU. If it isn't violent, it doesn't get airtime... even though its the biggest thing happening and will only get bigger and stronger. Its a waiting game at this point. The scales will change, anytime now. Where it goes from here is only a question of how much risk each side is willing to take.
Su, have you noticed the death cult never learns any lessons?
And so it begins. Our local group, Occupy Chico is suffering a hijack attempt by "Sovereign Citizen" activists. The Sovereign Citizen movement is known to produce one or two man terrorist attacks such as the Jarred Laughner attack and the Oklahoma City bombing.
Allowing the association with a known terrorist group would destroy us in the press. Unfortunately there are some young, naive souls who don't understand how the game is played yet and permit/encourage their inclusion.
Thus they begin poisoning all wells lest the people drink.
An Expose':
'60 Minutes exposes the 'sovereign citizens' as the nation's most serious
domestic-terrorism threat
*See the map. From the looks of it Pangolin, this will be a continuing problem. How do you preach compassion to crazies and yet, they are technically in the 99%? This is what happened with the 60's movement, heavily infiltrated by hard drugs, weaponry and violent desperadoes working to cash in on everyone's else's misery.
Nina_ My concern from my readings is that the Sovereign Citizen meme is a kind of mental rabies. It appears that a person once infected builds a sense of individual entitlement separate from social obligations.
When society demands it's due; they explode. It's like putting a mental virus in somebody that instructs them to turn themselves into a suicide bomber.
The only difference between viral/DNA infowar and memetic/informational infowar is the carrier medium. In both cases you're dealing with a self-replicating code.
Occupy Wall Street appears to be a phage that deletes some of the garbage we've been fed. It will have to evolve as the virals evolve.
definition of phage ... a thing that devours, short for micro or macrophage.
Oops. Apologies for the science fiction geek-out.
Bacteriophage (phage) are obligate intracellular parasites that multiply inside bacteria by making use of some or all of the host biosynthetic machinery (i.e., viruses that infect bacteria.).source
So what I was trying to imply was that the Wall Street/Predatory capitalist meme is being attacked by another meme, OWS, that is able to use it's internal machinery (the internet) against it.
Pangolin, since the birth of walking animals, communication has always been the way protest spreads. Technology is just an evolutionary drum.
Please share with me your opinion on Starve the Beast.
If you anticipate issues within the mixtures inside the movements, perhaps its time to look at alternative solutions. While there is no cure all for the Big Mess, some are more effective and less dangerous than others.
PS: Appreciated the Phage page.
Nina, In your Gallery the one titled " Tao honors the grass hopper " is actually showing a Praying Mantis :-) Hope your doing well and as usual appreciated your post :-)
HSW
Those protesters out on the streets who think that they are creating a whole new world and a new way of doing things are right. But not in the way that they think that they are. The radical experiments in formal consensus and citizen assemblies are simply too poorly thought-out to be able to work. And the movement that they are creating is simply too weak and fragile to avoid almost instant co-optation. But the ideas that they are throwing out into the world will spread like dandelion seeds and take root in some of the most unlikely places.
~ from Democracy - Diary of a Daoist Hermit ~
Anon_ The most radical idea that we're promoting is this......
Everything bad that happens to you is not because of a personality flaw. Sometimes, you really are getting screwed by a corrupt system.
I could type for hours about the horror stories I've heard directly from the mouths of individuals but it's past time I got down to the occupation.
HSW, you are right. I can't recall how it came to be known as a grasshopper, the child has become a man. Tao is Su's oldest boy, brought up in South Africa, it may be they call them grasshoppers there or it may be I invented the title and at the time it appeared to be a grasshopper as seen through Tao's personality, or what I sense him to be, which is freely imaginative and creative.
Anonymous reminds me of Scrap, he always gives himself away with his beautiful soul.
You would be saying it has been this way throughout history, especially the co-opting taking place between Marshall McLuhan's twentieth century version and the neoconservatives in partnership with the MIC, to this very day.
I like it that great courage has emerged, but I don't like the consequences courage has generally brought to the already suffering planet. I fear whatever compromise is reached, if compromise is even a remote possibility, we will get what we already get, vague and complex layers of ever-increasing deceits. They go on like they are, with renewed vigor, lacking anything else to do with themselves.
Pangolin, if you are one of the billions getting screwed by a corrupt system, why hang around for more?
The security industry and the social network industry are having a profitable heyday. Soon, the candidates will take their stands in yet more blathering TV spots all of which are sponsored big money magnets. And then ask, how many swaps are riding on this movement? The casino never closes.
Well said all around Nina! Seriously eh? It's all arranged all right. Such a noxious arrangement though, hmmm?
Some parts of this post felt like Thor's hammer. Awesome.
To the community here, greetings all around. My first post here.
Vivek
Yes, Dr. Vivek, again we concur. The dis-ease metastasizes further along in the labyrinth.
Nina_ Where are we supposed to go? The corrupt system owns or controls through debt instruments almost ALL of the land. There are a tiny percentage of people that hold clear title to their properties but property taxes force them to continuously submit to Domination, ie labor for, TPTB.
I'm beginning to understand that people are unwilling as of yet to make the personal sacrifices, summon the mental and intellectual courage, and learn to make clear judgements. I'm still hearing "you're too judgemental" from people who shrug off clear, deliberate poisoning of the core message of OWS.
If we don't learn to make judgements, examine our judgements and stand behind them we are still lemmings headed for the cliff.
Occupy Walls Street is a good start, a hopeful sign; but I don't see us making the commitment to change just yet.
p.s. i know lemmings don't really do that; people, however, do.
OWS is a turning point allowing individuals to see, and that is all it is good for at this particular point in time.
Everyone participating with honorable intentions should by now see where they can go from here, they see they are not alone, they see they have power of a sort, but exactly what power and how to wield it, are not yet clearly defined enough to build strength. Gathering in the public squares is not change, it is displaying interior vulnerability which will be used against them as always.
Hang out with them long enough Pangolin and you will definitely get your bum kicked hard. What everybody wants cannot happen without bloodshed. That IS the kind of monster you are dealing with and I hate to see you caught up in it that way.
If the entirety of the 99% walked away from the beast on an individual basis, then you'd see something substantial.
It might be a good idea too ask your peers to individually define for themselves exactly they want from their group presence.
You have a brilliant mind Pangolin, get an overview and work with that. Fantasy and reality are world's apart.
Nina_ I expect the "public" occupation to last less than another week due to lack of commitment from those who are still (somewhat) comfortable.
No worries.
Connections have been made between several of us who have noted who puts in the hours, stands the late watches, gets things done and who is a blowhard. Blowhards are worse than dead weight; they drag you down.
I believe I've established my credentials; this was sufficient for now. This is still the skirmish stage of corporatism vs anything else. More pressure will come from populations as GAIA makes her displeasure known.
That is right! Back to back disasters don't stand in the wings just because some neckties decree it so.

last week when i hit Ruanda, Yue Yue a 2 year old girl child was hit in China. Her mother was in the market and Yue Yue ran after her brother. The mother went in pursuit of her but landed up going in the wrong direction.
She was hit by a car which drove off, 18 people walked right past her, they must have seen her. And then a second van rode over. This crumpled little body. There was an image of the mothers face when she heard about it - and I in that instant felt her pain so incredibly acutely.
All these letters written by americans about the evil chinese and ow bad they are to dogs and kids and everything else. And what kind of a mother looses her child (well every kind of mother can loose a child if is the intention of the universe) - and I marvel at the bigotry on display here.
Libya has been bombed to extinction, a functioning country reduced to ruins. I can't imagine the fear, pain, sorrow, loss, hatred, rage and total despair affecting so many people right now.
Why aren't the American occupying Wall Street actually marching on the fucking pentagon. I am sorry {Pangolin this is all too fucking feel good and its not eliciting any change. Hilary Clinton is actually offering aids packages.
Please someone kill this woman - she has done enough damage.
I think I saw a flash that Gadaffi has been captured. I cannot bear to ask if he is alive or dead. It will just be that one victory too many for the death cult.
Surely the world must shake to its roots with anger right now.
Su_ I'm sorry for your grief and frustration. I truly don't know much about the situation in Libya other than that I have a deep distrust of the U.S. government whenever they start tossing Tomahawk missiles at something.
There is a reason that we are occupying Wall Street instead of marching on the Pentagon. It is the same reason that you talk to the puppeteer when the puppet kicks your cat. Arguing with the puppet is of no use.
As to the "this is all too fucking feel good and its not eliciting any change" comment I must respectfully disagree. Even in my little, no conflict, town the core group holding down a 24/7 protest is dropping from exhaustion. It really isn't that easy to sleep on a sidewalk next to three lane road. Assuming we could sleep. We have had an attempted takeover by a known terrorist-aligned political group. We have to deal with the simple exhaustion of leading an exposed life.
In other cities the regime of exposure, harassment and movement by authorities must be brutal to endure. I don't want to know how brutal honestly but at some point I will go and join one of the larger urban Occupations.
Conservative members of the U.S. congress are now backpedalling furiously and contradicting statements that they made a mere week ago. Now they are using our language to try and hide. Democratic congressmen are confused as to why we are ignoring them. The president is running in circles with his statements.
In my morning paper today the headline is "Birthrate Lowest since 1935." Young people cannot have secure relationships, cannot get married, cannot plan a future because there are no jobs for them to build on. This problem is NOT going away anytime soon. That is just one of many problems we face.
There will come a time when winter forces a stand down but it will be too late. The nets will have been woven by then.
